well tbh GS and staff dont mix well if using same armor but thats not to say you cant.
rampagers = precision high, power & condition dmg minors
you see this could work, while not giving super high condition dmg you are getting a fantasmal crit chance so having power as minor isnt horrible and isnt waisted but also staff is condition oriented and there is a minor trait in the precision trait line that allows illusions to put a 5sec bleed on foes everytime they crit. Obviously with GS clones the channel auto attack allows for many more crits in a short time so more bleeds.
there is also Rabid
condition dmg high, precision/toughness minor
while that may work nice for staff and GS clones stacking bleeds its kinda leaving the GS on you pointless. The reason is the GS is like all upfront dmg.

The GS probably best pairs with Beserker gear while the staff would likely be Rabid. Chaos armor isnt doing much if you die in half a hit ;-) If you want to go full glass cannon with staff though you would probably want ravagers for the minor power. Minor is a poor way of saying it as the difference between major and minor stats on prefixes is not build breakingly huge. However the staffs direct dmg is pretty poor so any power would likely only benefit stuff on your weapon switch such as GS or really any other combo like sword & focus (warden is pretty amazing) for instance.

I see, thnx for the info. So,what u are saying if i aint mistaken is that a pure power gs build would pair better with sword/focus?Aint mesmer losing much dungeon utility if he doesnt bring a staff?
Also is the vigil set worth buying for start?

actually what im saying is that GS and Staff dont pair well with the same armor.

I think you should use staff. But consider using scepter and maybe focus on swap.
scepter has a channel skill that stacks on 5 stacks of confusion which will benefit from condition dmg, although im not sure how well confusion does in pve so thats something someone else will have to advise you on. the focus is still a solid choice i think because of the trait that causes illusions to bleed on crit + the warden = aoe bleed stacks of like 10 or more. while the stacks only last 5sec at 10stacks and each at minimum of 100tic bleed thats… 5k dmg from bleeds alone. I dont know, its just my take on it.

Confusion is pretty crap in pve, don’t bother with it. I use full Carrion armor/jewelry with Staff + Sword/Pistol. Works pretty kitten good.

staff and sword/pistol is horrible, Charming Rogue. Zero synergy with that build.

I use GS / Staff all the time now. I switch back and forth with GS / Scepter + Focus. As far as synergy between GS/Staff, they work nicely together. But it depends on how you play. I run a 20/20/0/0/30 build and focus mostly on shatters. My gear is somewhat balanced (although heavy on the Power/Condition damage side), currently using superior runes of Balthazar.

There are several reasons I love the GS / Staff combo.

Illusion Generation: Both weapons generate illusions very quickly, these power my shatters (especially with deceptive evasion trait). Scepter is actually pretty slow with clone generation due to the auto-attack chain.

Illusionary Elasticity: Both weapons benefit from the extra bounces.

Adaptability: Greatsword is a great ranged weapon and hits very hard, while staff is a great defensive weapon with pretty strong offensive capabilities. The styles of both allow me to adapt to various situations. There’s a lot of versatility here.

This build has great survivability and great power. The secret to this build is when you are bursting. Please note, the following is just an example of a rotation, this is subject to change based on situations you encounter:

I usually open with greatsword mirror blade in mid-range (for the bounces). Toss out berserker, then dodge to close range for a mind wrack shatter immediately after the berserker completes it’s rotation. With illusionary persona and deceptive evasion traited, this is a 4 illusion shatter. Swap to staff, drop chaos storm then phase retreat for the bubble and use the 2 clone utility skill (forgot the name). Let your bouncing winds of chaos and your clones chaos stack some conditions, then run in and use cry of frustration shatter (again, 4 illusion shatter). I drop a feedback or null field, phase retreat again, drop warlock, and swap back to greatsword. Rinse, repeat, and adapt if needed.

Also as a side note, I think confusion is greatly underestimated in PvE. I look at it as supplemental damage. I have seen stacks cause 1-2k+ damage on confusion damage, all while I continue to DPS. Of course do not focus your entire build strictly on confusion but don’t rule it out completely.

i use it with precision/toughness/condtion damage armor+undead runes and sup sigil of earth on GS. Works nicely and i don’t get people saying GS is bad for condtion builds and take kitten*y scepters over it.

Fact: every Thief tells you to “l2p” when the subject is to nerf stealth.
