[Guide] How To Mesmer in Dungeons
Any significant changes to the build?:-D
Not really. They just kittened up our class in PvE by “fixing” one of our main asset, the untraited wardens. Other than that, no major change except maybe the Mantra of Pain and Distraction being 5 targets AoE skills now. iLeap skill is also nice now. And if the wardens are not bugging anymore, well ok it’s cool I guess.
MoP is now great for killing trash mobs. It does more damage than Sw#2. Swap it in and out depending on the encounter.
If you are in pug that has problems staying alive, you could try going (2)/6/0/0/6/(2) with phantasm, mantra heal and MoP as auto-attack.
The new sounds might be slightly annoying to the rest of the group though.
The new sound is kittening amazing! :O mop is also great cuz of the 5 targets > 3 targets of the sword. It became such a great skill!

So i am about to craft my ascended, but i wanna ask just to make sure.
Assassin’s is still better than zerker, right?
I was always doing gear with crit, but I see that some people use conditional damage gear? Am i miss something?
For PvE, you don’t want to use conditions, direct damage is still the way to go

Can be noted that for solo only condition sets can rival power builds.
For some professions yeah, but I’m not sure it is the case for mesmers. But I didn’t test that so we would need a confirmation from frifox for it (if he tested it)

Yeah, he’s done some dps tests. The condition sets pull ahead particularly in cases where maintaining full melee dps soling isn’t feasible.

I see, so it’s useful for non reflect situations for solo, good to know
Yeah it can be awesome, as you probably seen that condi solo of the champ wolf I uploaded – hella tanky yet still dishing out mad dps. The problem is that staff builds are plagued by the same problem as the phantasm builds – you gotta keep 3 clones out at all times for max dps because otherwise you’ll be hitting like a newbie necro. It’s worth noting that clones are much more squishy than phantasms so they’ll die quicker too. Fortunately, with Deceptive Evasion and Staff you’re pretty much a clone factory and with Rabid your and clone toughness will be quite high so that may be a non issue on some encounters but in ones where the enemy has a lot of cleave it might be a pain to sustain high dps.

You could also probably find room for signet of illusions, and that helps a lot with the squishyness.
Using that signet actually may be mandatory. I was doing some tests and noticed an interesting bug:
Staff clone, with SoI equipped
- 6,527 HP
Staff clone, w/out SoI equipped
- 2,433 HP – for first 2.2 sec
- 4,171 HP – 2.2 sec after summon
This calls for a bug test to be conducted. Do staff clones really have ~44% less HP for the first 2.2 sec when they are summoned? Is that just client-side bug or both client and server side bug?
This is how I noticed the problem:

Only staff clones fry? :S That wouldn’t be that terrible but it’s not great for sword clones

Frifox does it still work this way?
And for solo PVE would a Condi build be preferable?
Yes, the clone HP still behaves that way.
Power is almost always the preferred playstyle. However, Condi definitely viable and in certain times even more effective than Power.
Hi everyone!
I never see this build construction: 45050, like default reflects 64040 (same major traits). With Phantasmal Strengh in Inspiration phantasms increase 15% their damage.
Do you think it is a bad option? Thanks.
That build is nearly identical to the 5/4/0/5/0. While dps is pretty much the same, 4/5/0/5/0 build has ~2% better reflects from that extra point into dueling.
Comparing 4/5/0/5/0 to 6/4/0/4/0:
- Total dps is 0.9% higher
- Feedback/Curtain reflects same as 6/4/0/4/0 with 0 mantras
- Feedback/Curtain reflects 16.6% worse as 6/4/0/4/0 with 4 mantras
- Warden reflects as 18% better
4/5/0/5/0 build is only good if your main source of reflects going to be from Warden. Otherwise, the build has no real advantages compared to the mantra based counterparts.
How is this build now that hoT came out? The Chrono wells are nice for dungeons, but I wonder if they’re competitive against the signets and how they can blend with reflects and all… any takes on that from experienced mesmer dungeon dwellers who tried to incorporate Chronomancer’s nice additions to the game?
Take look on this thread where I made some points u would consider helpfull for Chrono.
Its not a complete guide, but I think it makes its addition.
