I really like the look of the harlequin mask you get as a starting mesmer. Unfortunately I got rid of mine a while ago. Does anyone know of a mask (any level) that has the same appearance?

It was a unique mask along with all other starter pieces

Go to the black lion trading post and buy any account bound bind-on equip light head piece. Deposit the head-piece and a transmutation stone into your bank.
Use a free character slot to create a new mesmer and choose the mask you want. Complete their intro, deposit the mask into your bank, then delete the caracter.
Log into your main character, withdraw the mask, use the transmute stone to turn it into whichever headpiece you want to equip, persto the mask is yours.

You can also do this with other scholar armours, my mesmer wears the skull mask from necro starter.

That doesn’t work for me. It always makes the unbound item soulbound after transmutation. Perhaps I am misunderstanding? I tried with both white and green items. Can you give me an example of an item I should use?

I too made the same mistake you did, and I love that mask. I JUST did this, so I know it works:

Make a new character, as said previously. Grab a cheap head piece and transmute it to look like the Harlequin mask. I forget which cheap headpiece I used exactly, but I doubt that matters.

After transmuting, I know it SAYS the transmuted mask is soulbound, but it’s not really. Leave the transmuted mask in your shared bank, log in your main mesmer, and you can pull it out of the shared bank into your inventory. Then it’s all yours.

I assure you this works. I just did this Friday.

I just try to get elementalist’s beginner helm with this. After transfering it to my mesmer, it’s an empty helm, no skin at all. I guess the skin is for elementalists only.

I haven’t tried the elementalist helms, but tried all 3 necro helms. None of them look good on my character’s skin tone, but such is life. I’ll try it on an elementalist helm and see what happens.

Edit: I only tried the fire helm, but you seem to be correct. It showed as completely blank.

For some reason it seems this workaround does not work with Elementalist starter helms. Not even if the character wearing the final mask is an Elementalist themselves. I accidentally deleted my Ele’s starting headgear, but even though I followed this procedure (which worked on my Mesmer and Necro), the Ele headgear is not showing up.

Even stranger, it IS showing up while on the Character Selection screen. It’s just not displayed while you’re in-game.
