So I was watching those awesome “Immortal Mesmer” videos and decided to try the build before realizing the build was no longer valid. Luckily I didn’t put any armor on or apply any of these expensive Melandru runes.

So I can sell all this stuff, but thought about repurposing all of it to make some sort of healing mesmer for dungeons. What do you guys think?

I think the mantra’s healing allies for 2754 is a real bargain. Especially if there isn’t a cooldown and you can just heal 4 times you’re entire party can be healed up for over 10k.

I tried this in sPvP but was never really in a good group battle and of course the only way to try this in WvW is to actually commit. I’d like some of your opinions before I spend the majority of my money on this.

healing is bad in dungeons and restorative mantras doesn’t scale very well with healing power anyway sooooo

healing mesmer ain’t going to be very useful. same in wvw: people are just going to drop a big water and blast 3 times and get more healing than this, much faster.

A tanky healing build is completely useless in dungeons. All dungeon builds just be designed around damage output first, and all other utility worked in alongside that. For good dungeon builds, look at maxinion’s dungeon guide linked in the stickied guide thread.

Healing power does almost nothing for the Mesmer, believe me I’ve tried and ran a mantra Mesmer for many months. In the end, the flawed Mantra mechanic will fry your brain. To be effective, you are literally spamming so many buttons that you wont even see what happen on the screen. Not to mention its impossible to get right, especially in WvW. So many other things you want instead – things that synergize better with other builds.

Mesmer has the best sustained aoe heal over time, and no one can come close to it. But it requires you to waste time better spent fighting, using mantras over and over. In my opinion it just isn’t worth it, however you can make a pretty tanky shatter build in pvp with 0-4-0-6-4 with healing mantras and heal on shatter, great for 1v1 fights vs eles and other sustained classes. It’s fine, but not viable. But the important thing is to have fun, unless you want to be competitive in which case there’s only 1 mesmer build (in this case I wish you luck).

Yea, this works well on a Phantasm build since you’ll keep regen on everyone almost constantly though your traits look more set for a shatter build(despite running defender?). Personally, for how you are wanting it I’d run it more like this:

Basically use Mantra of Pain as a panic heal cycling(and spike damage), otherwise you are keeping 3 phantoms up and being a pester tank. You do more distortion(and thus reflect) this way and you can spread the buff love to others. Alternatively if you get in situations where you get knocked around a bunch or mass conditions you can sub in one or two of the other three Mantras on the signets and change the Blurred Inscription trait to Protective Mantras quite quickly(I’ve done this in combat before if I can get out of aggro). If you really love Sword/Focus better you can change Retaliatory Shield to Mantra Mastery for a very tiny faster Pain cycle or Deceptive Decoy for a GTFO panic… (Though if you keep it Mimic might be more helpful then Defender with more reflects and blocks)

Mantra heal is best for pvd :d cuz u will nothing more need than heal under ac rain
