I have a level 80 pve mesmer with all the training finished included chronomancer. I wanna craft my own ascended armor but not sure which attributes need on it.
I use normally clones or phantasms and i wear greatsword.
Which ones are the best stats, specializations and build for a pve mesmer?

I myselfe dont craft, but cause of those blasted stones i might just have to start crafting x.X

If you have ascended armor you must be able to use it in all pve content + in wvw, othervise whats the point?

Cant help you with points thought. I use berserker armor + celestial trinkets, but thats cause i have lots of celestial trinkets lying around. But dont suddenly start buying celestial trinkets lol. Its just that i already have them xD

Ascended armor is technically only necessary for high level fractals for the infusion (or whatever they are called now) slots, and gives such a small boost to your stats over exotic that it is generally recommended to not waste resources on it. Weapons and trinkets are where the real increases are at.

That said, the only info you have given that would indicate a stat set is your weapon choice. GS is a power weapon, so I wouldn’t bother with condition damage. From there, there are some questions.

Typically you are gonna go for phantasms over clones (more life and actual damage). Clones are only desirable for condi builds (as their base damage doesn’t matter, but they still apply conditions which will do their full damage). Most phantasms do power damage (with the exception of iMage).

So then the question becomes what pve content are you playing? If Raids, then you will need to figure out what your raid group is going to expect of you. Most mesmers in raids serve as tanks and support (with alacrity and quickness), so you might be best off with Soldier, Knight, Wanderer… some mix of power and toughness. If fractals, you’ll want Berserker (which is also one of the more universal stat sets, so you can always use it on another character). Same for dungeons.

With more information on your build and what you want to do with the character, I can finetune my advice.

Bearshaman, please do share. I have been keen to find a “good” PVE build for Chrono now that I have rolled one to get out from under the DH barrage.
Guardian was/is my main but holy kitten as of late they are EVERYWHERE but yet still not loved in raids. Go figure.
I rolled a Mesmer for something new and the class does feel fun and all, I was able to solo some of the HP’s in AB and as condi as well, so some hope maybe.
But would really like to know if its even worth it, or am I going to be pigeon-holed into tanking (which I don’t want) or told my dps sucks so we don’t want you and in open world PVE you will suck as well?
Meta claims the condi Mesmer is on par with power but others tell me it sucks in open world PVE/raids and only really shines in WvW. If that’s the case I will cut my losses now and go back to DH. I have full asc Vipers from my Reaper so gear for Mesmer isn’t an issue or cost, same with weapons. Just more from time investment sort of thing. I dunno, maybe I will give tanking a nod, only no one wants to take a new tank nor the time to train. Ah well, thanks mate in advance for any input.

If the answer to that question is no, then you need to focus on getting those first. Ascended armor is massively less efficient than all of those pieces while being simultaneously far more expensive to obtain.

Mesmer dps is awful. Mesmers are also wanted in literally every single raid party that exists. The meta raid build with chrono provides powerful party support that can’t be obtained elsewhere. Now this often means it’s convenient for you to also be the tank of the raid, but that’s not actually required. I will say that finding raids as a chrono able to tank should be easier than if you’re not willing to tank, but both types of parties do exist.

Open world PvE mesmer is pretty miserable though, there’s not really any way of getting around it. Your dps is low, aoe is hard to come by, and damage is linked to the clunky phantasm mechanic. Every other class is easily better than mesmer for pure open world.

Thanks for that Fay! I think you actually have said the same to me before but I was hoping that maybe things have changed, sadly apparently not.
Perhaps I will keep my Mesmer around and if I do want to take up tanking then I can try or practice with her and do the support you speak of.
I am of the old school face beating type of playing so back to my DH I may go, or give Reaper another nod.

Weapons, yes, but aren’t exotic amulets/rings/accessories/backpieces better for chronomancers due to giving more boon duration when slotted with a platinum doubloon?

You won’t need those. You will always have a Rev by your side if you are in a raid group, if you are in a 5 man party you don’t need more than the boon duration from your food and as solo you want max dps anyway.

So go for either:

• zerker weapons, trinkets, assassin armor
• everything zerker but chest, leggins and a ring assassin

Use precision utility food.

This way you will be most efficient when it comes to buffed dps with Spotter and Banner.

As other have mentioned, your priority on getting expensive / ascended stuff is like this:

Ascended main hand weapon > ascended trinkets > ascended offhand weapon > bountiful food > ascended armor

(unless you want to play high fotm)
