Just thought I would pass on the easiest way to do the achievement for 5 gambits in a teir 3 fight. This also gets you Triple Threat, Risk Taker and Humble Victor in one go

Do it vs Deadeye Dunwell and take all of the gambits but the Crowd Favorite.

Spec full zerker, run any variation of a phantasm build you want, and take x/P and what ever you want. Trick is bringing mantra of distraction, signet of domination, signet of midnight.

Cast phantasms, and just walk to center (no point in chasing when he blinks, your phantasms will do the running). Use an interrupt or Blind every time you see the Head Shot animation, and your phantasms will work him down for you. Got achievement first time I tried with relatively no difficulty. GS S/P would probably be the fastest way to do it.

Feedback and any reflects/blocks do not stop the Head Shot. But distortion and Blurred frenzy do avoid it. From what i have seen its a channeling move, so it still targets you if you try to stealth and avoid it.

Stealth can work to avoid the cast (found that out due to luck granted) which leaves him useless for a while so if you figure out how to tell when he’s about to head shot you there’s that…

PS: you should probably not take tremors, I could see that one being problematic!

Subject 7 was easy for taking triple threat on, but when i added in the other two became a lot harder with such low vit/toughness. especially since your on fire and cant dodge roll.. (wasting my sigils of energy)

This one was literally standing there spamming phantasms and auto attack and a few interrupts during animation. You have Pistol 5, 2 mantras, and 2 signets, blurred frenzy and distortion to avoid a kill shot while phantasms work away. I Killed him before even using my signets, but if your not pure Zerker, you can still do it. Other than missing a Kill Shot interrupt, you can’t fail this way.

I have do not know how they patched him so I can not say if it is still possible. I just used a lot of stuns to prevent his Head Shot back then and let phantasms work on him.

It may now be easier to do the 5 gambits on Subject 7 as mentioned above. Take wardens feedback and glamour specs. between feedback, wardens reflect, temporal field, blurred frenzy and shatter 4 (last resort), you should be able to negate 100% of their attacks as you kill it. Just need to time them just as the last one is stopping. Phantasmal haste would be a good idea to shave 1.8 seconds off the warden combined with IC to have a couple wardens out during fight.

I would just suggest full zerker so your damage is maxed. with all the damage negated, survivability shouldn’t be an issue.

Honestly, I “defeated” deadeye with 5 gambits by taking all his hits when he was visible and when he vanished, I miss-clicked pistol 5, shot ceiling with that darn thing…

…next I saw all those achievements popping in and no deadeye around.
Apparently he ran away. :S

5 Gambits on the ooze was easy for me and I’m pure berserker, do all gambits except Crowd Fav (Tremors got removed). Deadeye requires too many reactive actions, ooze doesn’t.

Try a 10/20/5/25/0 base phantasm build (you have 10 pts to put else where. I’d say Dom or duelist for more damage). Bring Ether Feast, Feedback, Signet of Illusions, and whatever else for the 3rd utility. For elite bring a summon racial (Hounds, Take Root, etc) or Time Warp. For Weapons do Sword/Focus and Sword/Sword(Or Pistol if you go 30 Dueling).

Summon a Warden on him immediately and stand inside the Warden’s bubble. Attack him with your sword and summon your Swordsman/Duelist. When the first Warden stops channeling use Feedback to block most of the mini ooze attacks. By time it ends your warden will be channeling again so stand in his bubble again while attacking the ooze. Once he finishes you should be able to cast a second Warden, time it so he begins just as the other finishes so that you can jump between the two. Use your elite for extra damage and canon fodder.

It’s a little silly how easy it is, at worst you need some light healing to keep your HP up, which regen from Phantasms should help with, but you could mix in restorative mantras if needed.

Full zerker gear. He should never hit you once if you follow my instructions.

The need to reactively avoid/interrupt his attack or else you die is why I suggested ooze over deadeye. Yes, it’s easy once you get the feel of it or if you’re just good at interrupts but it adds an extra level of difficulty that the ooze does not have. In both fights you use Wardens to protect you from the range attacks. With the ooze it pretty much stops there, whereas with deadeye you mix in a ‘interrupt this skill or you die’ aspect.

Bring Signet of Illusions, intsead of Signet of Domination, sometimes Phantasms hit the bombs, which can potentially make you fail if they die.

MassDelusion has it right. Post-patch, I used the same strategy, but with a condi mindset: 100% rampager’s gear, 15(II or III)/30(II,IX,VII)/0/0/25(V,X). Sword/Focus, Sword/Pistol. Feedback, Mantra of Distraction, Signet of Domination. Koi cake food, tuning crystal. Farmed him at 5 gambits, but for fun I even killed him with all 6 gambits using this setup.

A fun tip…if you use the duelist discipline projectile finisher bug combined with perplexity runes, the confusion gets up to 20-25 stacks in about 3 seconds. Add in the bleeding and he melts in 10-15s.
