How are you mesmers doing in WvW now?
Rabid/Dire Condi is still good.
Ross just shared a condirupt build designed for WvW that he’s been having some success with.

There’s been some talk about chronos actually being useful in zerg. You’d run full Assassins for reflects, take Mantra of Pain for tagging, convince a Herald to let you in their group, drop tons of quickness on the raid with Tides of Time, and use wells to get as much aoe as you possibly can. I haven’t seen any solid examples, but some mutterings from people who seem to like it.
As a side note I’m quite fed up because it takes ages to find anyone to fight in the new borderlands (I think they’re very pretty but seems a lot of players just aren’t there) and EB always has a ridiculously long queue…
Condition is more viable as well as rupt builds, but after a couple of balance patches I think we will see hard-shatter back on the field. Yes it is very hard to play because of PU nerf+Gs3nerf+ the fact that anything starting with a ‘r’ owns. Give it time, to early to tell.
I’m sure it’s just a matter of learning the new meta, but WvW seems rough these days. I run with a 10-15 man guild group. Before HoT, I was in a good place. Now not so much. The pulls are just ridiculous. Maybe I should use F5 to double up on Blinks…
I’m asking because mine feels broken. With HoT I just can’t seem to find a playstyle that is working for me. It’s like: “Oh, hello Mr. Scrapper. That’s a nice stack of Might and boons you got there. Could you please wait while I summon my phantasms, no?”, and Bam! Dead.
What is a good spec. for WvW now? Give me something to try, I’m out of ideas.
Reason I went Dire is because of those hard spikes (and OP setups on other elites) out there.
In large scale I’d go full glass with chrono and wells. Same play as always, diving in and out to burst/dump skills. Only now you’re actually offering something with your wells instead of just downing an unsuspecting pawn and having him ranged down/trained there’after.
I have no idea for how zerging as a mesmer is going, because I never did that!
But man the roaming have been a blast! I’m having soo much fun and doing a lot better ever since I got hand on the Chronomancer, I’m not sure if it’s just fitting my playstyle a lot better or if it’s because people just don’t get what’s going on!
But winning outnumbered on a regular basic against zerglings which is the best!

Dire armor seems to help quite a lot. I don’t really feel comfortable with Chrono yet, but a couple of dire armor pieces was enough to keep me alive through most initial bursts with my old spec.
Amadeus, are you still running the Berserker-bruiser build you previously linked in other threads?
For reference, it’s the one below.
what is wvw ? Why does any one play that.?

Yes i am indeed :-) atm. Im testing the heal on crit food to see if I prefer it over the passive healing one and I have also played around with some different sigils! The only thing nagging me is the low WvW population atm. Due to all doing PvE and it taking some time to find fights! But the build is a blast whenever you find a fight! :-D

Hi mate, using similar build than yours. It works very good, and very fun to use as well.
Aside of some very skilled thief’s, I only have problems with heralds because they have more defense than us with that build, and they can also get rid of our blocks with shiro legend.
Do u have any particular strategy to defeat heralds?.
Cheers

Because not everyone plays GW2’s for it’s inferior MOBA wannabe sPvP? :P
Granted, then there’s PvE, and then you really got to wonder why they’re even investing money into any PvP mode at all.

I have actually still not met a really good Herald, but the ones I have had dueled using the Shiro legend, I have just made sure to dodge, stand in well/chaos storm or use shatter 4 to avoid the two unblockable attacks!
I don’t really feel like they have many hard hitting skills either, more hard hitting multi attacks and hence the two attacks that can’t be blocked haven’t felt like a big deal to me!
Made sure to stop attacking them as soon as they use the herald heal and tried to burst after their defence have been used. I felt like I had more sustain then they had, so while it were longer fights I just slowly grinded them down and won in the end!
But as I said, have yet to truely meet a good one!
Good Daredevils S/D with the sprint dodge I can’t kill, they can’t kill me either, but I simply can’t lock them down to burst :P

From a zerg/group player perspective… I’m still figuring it out.
Super speed provides a huge boost in illusion survival, which is much needed, but still might not be enough to make shatters as viable as other profession mechanics. Even my best shatter only contributes about as much damage as a single Lava Font or meteor shower, with much more set-up involved.
I’ve mostly been running a Staff/GS ranged Dueling/Chaos/Chrono shatter/AoE build. Utilities are Blink, WoCalamity, Veil, and Gravity Well.
It’s working ok… though I’m trying to figure out if I want to try ditching reliance on shatters and just focus on mid-line tanking and well support or pick up Signet of Illusions and Inspiration to beef up my illusions enough that they may survive a bit longer…
With most people still completing PvE content, it’s been hard to get an organized guild group together and really start nailing down some of our new synergies. :-) Having a blast in PvE and roaming though!
