People are running conditions very heavily. I got wrecked countless times by a condi burst before I would even try to use any cleanse.
The fact that I was running condi (MtD shatter) myself is completely beside the point :p
Waiting a bit for it to settle. Feels like pure offensive condis are very strong and not something people are prepared for this evening.
I heard a lot of calls for “wow! These condis are strong. Bring out your condi builds” instead of “Bring out your support and cleansing builds.”
I had a small party with a condi-cleanse guardian and he told me he felt like he just never could get rid of them (and we were not amazingly outnumbered).
Myself, as a mesmer, I didn’t expect to survive condition bursts anyway :p
I used to run torch cleansing (two cleanses in total) before patch and it works well and I have to pack Mantra of Resolve now but I still always gets owned by condis even with the buff to mantras.

May I suggest arcane thievery (if you have mirror on manipulation traited) ?

I haven’t tried it yet. I’ve been trying my traditional power shatter build (domination, dueling, illusions) and conditions really own me.
I finally tried my theorycrafted WvW support build (chaos, illusions, inspiration).
Temporal Enchanter and Master of Manipulation works really nice with double Veil (Mimic).
F4 with Bountiful Disillusionment + Master of Fragmentation + Inspiring Distortion give Distortion + Mirror + Stability + regeneration to 5 allies, very useful during the inc.
I can easily spam all the Shatters for 4 AoE boons and stacks of stability.

I tried a lockdown variation with domination, Illusions, inspiration, using the Signet of Illusion with Blurred Inscriptions for a 3 time AoE distortion + mirror, but without stability.

Damage needs a nerf across the board. I should never be able to one-shot zerg warriors and conditions in general tick way too high.
Also PU needs to be reverted, at least.
I ran a tanky PU / Condi Shatter with staff and scepter / torch. Was traited to get extra confusion and torment on shatters.
Overall my todays experience was as follows:
Torch – great
Staff – Great
Scepter – still sucks kitten cause 900 and too slow even traited.
Condi shatter is ok. Great in smaller fights, OK in medium, hard to play in large scale, you have to shatter instantly cause all clones / phantasms still melt in 1 sec. But I did land some nice shatters, was testing that specifically.
Other thing is with regards to this build, mobility just plainly sucks. I would have to resort to travelers or runes of speed and that is a ton of lost damage and survivability. Went with a full set of Runes of Antitoxin. Add to that 1 reserved slot for veil and …. yea. Really really blows on movement.

Tried both tanky spec and glass spec for many professions in WvW. Toughness and vitality doesn’t really matter anymore, active defenses worth more than anything (even with vigor nerf). You either melt people or you melt, I think they need to tone down damage or buff everyone’s HP.
In mesmer I run Domi/duel/inspi. Inspiration + mantra of recovery really help a lot with conditions, especially when mantra of recovery recharges at the back. There are not a single instance when I don’t have a heal + condi cleanse ready.

Man, you must main a GS zerker war and roam only and exclusively. Dont forget there are other builds.
Overall WvW combat is a LOT faster now. While I owned quite a bit last night, I also got owned quite a bit. I see some freagin insane war hybrid builds running around that down me right through my stealth, 24k hp and 2.9k armor with all my buffs from PU on me in about 2-3 secs flat. Repeatedly and literally. This is not an exxageration.
What it comes down to is that if I get a good jump on a war, hes screwed, if he gets a good jump on me, am screwed. Overall seemed pretty equal to me.
I think you should hop back on your war, go to war forums, ask for some of these builds, and L2P. Alternately, wait about a month until I go through all my toons and play them a bit and get around to playing my war. Then I will be happy to teach you how to play.
At least you were 2/3 right, namely with the “GS” and “zerker” part. If you take a look at my signature, you’ll see i main a mesmer, though.
I ran SuperVeils (Veil + Mimic, traited with PU, Temporal Enchanter, Master of Manipulation) for a zerg and it was pretty sweet.
I also played a Dom/Duel/Insp mantra interrupt build for smaller fights (my usual thing) and, despite the absence of Deceptive Evasion, it was much, much improved. Thumbs up all around. Also, HM > DE.
It’s kinda weird. I felt, like, really powerful. But my friends seemed really powerful, too. Stuff like engie mortar and burst thieves and tanky eles and whatnot. We felt kinda OP. Yet the enemies we were facing (mesmers included) had all the same stuff and… I didn’t feel like they were any stronger than before. So far I think the patch is pretty good at, like, making you feel more buffed-up than you actually are.

The strange thing is, the build I use after patch is stronger than before… in theory. Much better traits. But in practice, I went down like a rotten tree no matter what I faced, lol. But I think its more that the zerker meta seem to be even stronger than before for all the other classes (I run hybrid). Thieves I usually dont have a problem with, but now it was a death sentence to meet them.
Bleh need to get used to the patch.

Basilisk Venom gives two charges now (even untraited), so you gotta deal with their opening bursts a little bit differently when you’re fighting a typical zerk SA D/P thief.
was hoping condi builds wouldnt be so prevalent in wvw but not the case lol the spam is just as bad worst now probably
