How hard is nerf on shatter build
a shatter build complain about the patch. didn’t see this one coming.
Just saying, Shatter is the only one nearly untouched – aside BF nerf.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.

Which I feel is hudge for shatter mesmer…so this why I created this post as it is not the focus on previous topics which are much more general nerf discussions.
I would like to get the opinion on advance spvp players on the state of the shatter mesmer in this domain.

dude… it doesnt take an advance pvp player to tell you that shatter was hardly nerfed
dont use osicat trait distribution because he rely on an op combination of stats and food buffs for damage
most shatter mesmer use 20/20/0/0/30 trait distribution because mental torment is necessary to improve shatter damage
shatter mesmer is much harder to play then phastasm because manging clones is not exactly easy
Well, illusions got their HP buffed, trait realignment didn’t change anything.
Buff for shatter mesmers, “nerf” for non-shatter ones.
So…just to clarify…it looks to me from your post that your main complaint is that you can’t one-shot every other class in the game…?
The ability to do that is, by definition, over-powered, and should be nerf’d to make the class comparable with other classes, so that the ability to win a fight comes down to player-ability, not the shear over-powered-ness of the class itself.
Logically speaking, you shouldn’t be able to one-shot anyone, and certainly not a tanky build.
This has been my problem with mesmers since I started this game. I still have this problem with thieves, and mesmers, and now necros and warriors…apparently Anet’s favorite classes.
No matter how good a player I am, I can’t take down a mesmer 1v1 with either my ele or my ranger. In one wvw fight I had my ele, and a friend on his lvl 80 thief, and between the two of us we could not take this mesmer down without a long, protracted 7-10 minute fight. The first two times we fought him he took us both down in less than 3 minutes.
Admittedly, he may have been an exceptional player, and he definitely knew his class and how to play it, but I and my friend are both very capable with our classes, and at no other time, against any other solo class did we ever have a fight like this.
So, I’m sorry you feel that your class has been ruined because you can’t ONE-SHOT everyone in the game, but that’s called FAIR PLAY. If you don’t like it, you can go back to playing an assassin in wow.

2) I feel that I cannot take tanky build down anymore as my sustain damage is now too low. I know sustain damage was already an issue for shatter mesmer in the past (saw a never ending duel between Osicat and D/D ele) but now it is a nightmare.
I feel that without a teamate…I can do nothing on an avergage tanky build:
- ranger => not possible to down in one burst => hit him at 30% of his health on first burst and back 100% when next burst came
- D/D ele => lol…not worth even mentionning it
- Guard => same as ranger but life never bellow 50%

(Shatter mesmers primarily use clone fodder)
Because they were just so darn tanky and could survive group combat too well before I guess… /sarcasm
But out of everything shatter was indeed nerfed the least.
What I think the OP is pointing out is that bunker builds are still too strong. I agree with that part 100%… as did the dev’s a while ago in a state of the game… but have done little to actually change that.

Get some new combos.. dont be predictable with your shatters..
BF nerf sucks but apart from that shatter is still fine. Can still beat any profession.

The problem is that ArenaNet’s stance is nerf over balance: Changing BF from invulnerability to evasion would have been a (barely) acceptable balance (I would’ve liked 3 seconds of stability to go with it; that way condition damage still gets through while BF doesn’t get interrupted) had they not also increased the cool-down time.

Right… Go ahead and show us some of these “new” combos.
Anything worth doing is already being down. The original Guild Wars has hundreds of skills to go through; here, you have predetermined weapon skills and a handful of heal/utility/elite skills to choose from. It isn’t rocket science.

I wasn’t aware that BF is now interruptible. This makes me very sad. It’s gonna be very hard to tank champs with it now.
Haven’t tried vs ranger yet since the patch. But yes they have always been a problem for shatter due to as you explained being able to heal up to full at the end of the first round of burst and having tons of doges ect, not to mention being on the same level as dearp no skill phantasm, and I hopped that some of that would change.
(To amend this I mean only to imply that a glass cannon should not be endlessly out lasted and killed by any bunker or heal bunker build. Being out played and killed instead of “pew pew pew I don’t need to do anything and still win”
HOWEVER If your losing to eles and guardians you are doing it wrong.
