How to beat innanimate objects
iWarden is the bane of the inanimate
Throw iWarden on the innanimate object and watch it melt. It does more damage than any other player (with empowerment trait).
really? I always use that ability just to make a damage sponge; I never thought to use it offensively. Thanks!
I usually just switch to my back-up weapons. I main Staff with back-up being double swords or greatsword. Those attacks tend to take them out pretty quick.
I like the above mentioned iWarden idea, but I don’t really use the focus.
If it ever goes on the table, I vote to be able to confuse gates and make them bleed…
You can already make ghosts and earth elementals bleed; why not mounds of dirt and gates? I just dont want to spec around conditions when there are things in the world which are immune to them >.<
I’ll say as the others have.
I.Warden is the answer.
Just spawn him on the inanimate object, then turn your attention on fighting any monsters nearby. If there isn’t any, and you have the MH-Sword equipped, swing away at it and spawn another I.Warden if that inanimate object is still up.
The fact that I.Warden PROTECTS me from incoming shots from the catapults/cannons/turrets is a big bonus.
In other news, ANet said they were looking at making Condition builds more effective (read ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING!) against inanimate object targets.

Definitely iWarden, though my iSwordsman does a decent job against most objects while I attend to other matters.
Condition damage against objects would be a welcome change, though.

I was excited about using Warden but with the nerf/bug fix it seems like it is no longer the answer. I guess ANet saw this thread Q_Q.
My mesmer only really applies confusion as a condition running a 20/20/0/0/30 power/crit shatter build rocking sword/sword + GS. I really have no trouble with these. Both of my phantasms do massive damage to innanimate objects and my attacks + shatters also do a bunch. If you build yourself purely in the “legion” fashion relying on phantasms to do your damage without shattering, you have to expect some amount of weakness.
you don’t HAVE to use iwarden. iberserker does just fine. in fact it will swing in place hitting multiple times.
underwater, use the mariner – although this is hit or miss. often he will spawn, do his attack then swim around the object back and forth and never hit it again.

iwarden focus 5* skill, not phantasmal defender.
Phantasmal defender places a buff on you that absorbs half your damage from you.
Phantasmal warden reflect projectiles and deals a butt load of AE damage.
My warden crits upwards of 4k ^_^
