Q:
How to judge whether enemy is casting skill?
A:
I’ve been experimenting with an interrupt build in WvW recently, and from having played a lot of PvP since launch, animations have become just as easy to read as a skill bar. Just practice against different classes and you’ll start picking up on which animations are linked to different skills. Almost every heal in the game is very easy to spot and interrupt, and I believe this was intentional as I recall back in beta ANet mentioning that learning opponents skill animations was going to be important in GW2. I’m hoping that these mesmer CC buffs are true because Mesmer lockdown builds will finally be viable once more. There are certain skills (many signets for example) that are difficult to spot but if you watch your opponent carefully and learn their rotations you can interrupt their key skills to shut them down. In larger wvw battles things are less easy to see but with the few AoE CC skills we have, chances are you’ll be interrupting several people without even looking.

Study animations, Practice makes perfect!
Sadly watching their animation and trying pre-empt it is the only way, which is IMO one reason why interruption is a dead art in GW2. unless you know the skills, weapons and telegraphs of every skill in teh game there is no way to really guess what your enemy is doing and whether it’s worth trying to interupt it
Even healing skills arn’t reliable, there are some heals that don’t create the telltale white/rainbow glow; and heaven forbid you want to interuppt an asura – their telegraphs are almost imperceptible to a large player like a charr or norn

I think reading the animations is more realistic way to go about it. If it was real, no way your enemies would have a bar under their name proclaiming their skill usage and how much is done. That was a major aspect of interrupting skills in GW1. But without a dedicated healer class like monks, I think interrupting a heal would just be too easy specially since most skills take one second or more to cast.
When I played a mesmer in GW1, interrupting 1 second skills was my bread and butter. Eles? No problem! Necro? No hassles. In GW2, it would be disaster. Plus it’ll be even worse with thieves going into stealth and essentially killing all interrupting classes.
A good way that I use is to force the enemy and controll the fight. You bust a mesmer down to 25%? you can bet alot that next skill he cast is massinvis or Heal. So basicly bust then setyup a interupt and folow with more dmg.
many example like this.
Interesting is the rumored interupt dmg, if you burst somone down low and interupt hes heal it might be enought to down him.

In general watch their arms. Your arms ‘rest’ at a standard position when not doing anything and always move when you are casting.
