If you ignore the stealth benefits of Prismatic Understanding and are playing a boonstorm spec, given that you are Human do you think Prayer to Lyssa is a valid replacement for Decoy to cycle buffs? I mean this has a 12s reuse, gives a random boon and also throws a random debuff on something.

Trying to break out of PU dependence.

You feel like PU is carrying you? You die that much without it or feel that it is just to good to give up? I know many people don’t run PU. Prayer to lyssa isn’t a good substitute unless its giving you protection -33% damage, regen or aegis. All 3 of those boons are great with protection being the best imo.

Its not that, I want to not invest so deeply into the Chaos Tree. I have played the traditional S+F / Staff boonstormer and its nice, but I am trying to shift slightly towards offense.

One thing to note is given my build any time I get regeneration I get protection, that means prayer to lyssa can provide protection 2 ways (direct or via regen buff).

The thing about decoy is the reuse is pretty slow, 40s is a long time compared to prayer which also has offensive capabilites.

Unless you’re wanting the boons for boon sharing or some such, you shouldnt be running PU in PvE. You may or may not want the boon duration from 30 chaos though, that’s the only reason to go 30 deep.

Ok well here’s my take. You don’t need protection, regen, or aegis from PU. What you do want is a crap ton of might stacking. So drop your staff clones, chaos storm, do your battle weapon swaps, shatters for retal/might etc, and with as much boon duration as you care to take, share whatever boons you have on you at the time.

PU build is pure WVW. No point to use it in PVE. Topic is pointless. Run regular zerk build, good support mantra build or shatter.

PtL is bad because of the cooldown. Sure, it’s fun and fits perfectly into the mesmer theme and a boon stacking/sharing build but it’s essentially random. If you get a good boon and a good condition (the ones you need the most at the time), then the 12s CD was kind of maybe worth it. If either one of them or both was bad for the situation, you’ve wasted your time casting it.

Null field is a vastly superior support skill, as are most mantras since they are now AoE.

i agree with u. i sorta need pu in this terrible cc meta in wvw raids atm. the perma stuns and aoe spams and immobilize spams make it hard for a mes without any stealth to survive. especially in higher tiers all u see is eles and warrior/guardian trains that perma cc u while hitting u with massive aoes that can hit u for 4-6k. so yeah on my pu mes i can at least pop a decoy or torch skill and run out of the zergball and ganker squad

If you NEED PU to survive then you need to l2p.
