Guild Wars 2

I am new to GW2 and just love mesmer class when I first saw it. I am still kinda noob with regard the mechanics and build tactics of the class and hope someone can enlighten me. I heard that power build is applicable for everything , condi is better only for WvW and sPvP, while either is better than hybrid. I personally just love the idea of being hybrid but don’t quite know what it takes to make it (may be at least) viable. All comments are welcome and please forgive me if I misstate anything above . What game mode will you be playing?

pve, dungeon, raids n fractals

I’ll pass on pve best playstyle, I have no idea what is the meta after HoT…
The problem with hybrid is that they end up rather weak, especially in the durability area because you will have to spread your stats between:
Power
Precision
Ferocity
Condi Damage
Expertise

Keep in mind that you’ll probably need a set of weapon focused on condition damage (scepter) and one focused on dps (recommended is Greatsword because of the range and power of the clones)
For the off hand I’d recommend the shield for the additional block and interrupt

Mix and match sinister armor with something offering toughness (rabid) because your toughness wil be directly converted into condi damage (with a certain %)

Use the following traits:
chronomancer(Bottom Top Bottom)
Chaos (Middle Middle Bottom)
illusion (Top Bottom Top)

Fetch runes and sigils that will complement well (additionall x% on damage/condition damage, doom, energy, berserker, adventurer) and buffs that will end up leveling your power/condi damage
do not forget expertise for the condi duration.

On the playstyle, your main dps will come from torment and confusion, start on scepter for initial burst, stacking a decent amount of condis, and then switch to Greatsword for the final burst.

Take this with a grain of salt, I have no experience in pve. What you need to keep in mind is that hybrid will be relatively weaker than a purely focsed build. It IS possible, but won’t be optimal.

Thz definitely a bowl of salt worth comment! At least now I know hybrid is simply not even near optimal. Initially I was thinking of playing a condi chronomesmer, but after considering the main condi that a mesmer offers are confusion and torment which are definitely not one of the ones you want for pve, so I was thinking may be adding some “power” style will make a kick to it. In short, now I know I’m wrong.

No, you dont want rabid gear if your trying to run a hybrid damage build…
