Ok i have to say it, I have been cheating on my mesmer with other professions. I feel kind of dirty and i had to get it off my chest. But playing other professions is a good way learning weakness of that profession, so i have been cheating for a good reason.
Ok when i was on my little affair i notice two thing that every profession has except mesmers, one being a passive speed buff either with traits or signets. i think just about every mesmer knows it by now but i am sure Anet are working on it like they said 6 months ago.
The other one is that every other profession seems to have access to a passive regen. Warriors have a signet and a trait, Ele’s have a minor trait and a heal on attack signet(im sure its a signet), Guardians have a virtue, Thief has a trait that heals while in stealth and a trait that heal on attack and a signet that heals on attack, Necro have a minon that life steals and a trait that steals health on crit and last but no least Engineers have a trait that gives regen while in a kit.
Ok yes mesmers have a 1 in 3 chance on getting regen when they stealth but thats a grandmaster trait while or the other profession traits are master or less.
Sorry if this sound like im moaning(well i am sort off), im just wondering why mesmer are missing out.

Mesmers have potential for permanent regen with a 5 point minor trait, thats hardly hard to acces :P.

Passive apeedbuffs are a problem for map completion though.

Well the necro lifesteal abilities are pretty much garbage.
The Thief stealth/signet is pretty effective, but they’re still generally squishier than us because they typically take stealth or speed utilities over stunbreaks.
Mesmers have perma-regeneration from phantasms by going 15 into inspiration.
The lack of a speed buff is fine when you consider that mesmers have the best micromobility (teleports/leaps) in the game. If you really want to get permaswiftness, just pick up centaur or air runes and use mirror, although its really not that needed.

Yeah the regen from phantasms doesn’t really cut it when compared to other classes passive health regen abilities, especially not in the large open world events like Jormag. I’m dreading this new Tequatl really sounds like 15 mins of attrition and we really don’t have the tools to deal with it as well as other classes.

And as always more out of combat maneuverability is needed.

My Ranger and Mesmer are in a vicious cycle with each other when I am out in the world. I keep going back over to my Ranger to get Swoop and the 25% signet to get around and have fun while exploring but then I find the skills and combat underpowered, 2 dimensional and unfun compared to Mesmer and head back over until I get tired of the slowness.

yeah ok you can get perma regeneration with phantasms but that mean you have to stand near you phantasms, ok dualist and warlock are fine they stay are range but the others don’t, i am not a big fan of running into melee range in WvWvW to get some regenerations, plus that the boon. the boon can be removed or stolen or worse turned into poison. I’m talking about the regen at other profession have that isn’t a boon, like smoothing mists or signet of the wild(yes i did miss rangers on my main post, but they are dead to me. them and there stupid pets)
I use centaur runes on my mesmer for swiftness, you can stack it. i was bored in WvW and escorting dollies to upgrade hills and i stacked up to 3 mins. If you have a trumpet, unbreakable bell or flute equip that and use the number 6 note every 10 seconds it will trigger the rune and give you 12 seconds of swiftness and if you switch out of the bundle you still have your heal skill. just a handy little tip for everyone.

I’ve had moments where I get fed up with how other classes can press AA to win and yet i’m jumping through hoops and doing backflips just to survive.

But I digress, the mesmer is a fun class and it is vital to know pretty much how all the professions work because essentially the Mesmer class is built to negate the other classes skills (i.e. confusion)

Meh, confusion is useless :/. The only time i ever do reliablr damage with it, is when i hit a shortbiw ranger who is too stupid to notice the hugely telegraphed and clunky confusing images, and then doesnt notice the flyig purple bubbles or confusion… And then wonders why their health drops >_<. It doesnt happen often.

When i make anything else than ele thisf or mesmer, pve feels so easy :o. You can literally tank everything and win :/.

Confusion is all about control and pressure. Every time they stop attacking to wait it out or burn through a cleanse to remove confusion are valuable seconds when they’re not attacking you. And if they do attack they’ll take at least some damage based on how your build is and how many stacks were inflicted.

Because equipping a focus, pressing five and watching a mob die is just too challenging.
