Hey everyone! I’d like to hear some ideas from you about balances and or new skills/traits that wouldn’t be overpowered but would provide even more diversity to the mesmer profession.

Wave Distortion
I think this would serve best in the chaos or illusion trait line for support in team fights. The name isn’t so important so I’ll call it wave distortion. The idea behind this would be that selecting this trait would allow you to apply distortion to your teammates within a specific radius, maybe 500? This trait in turn however, would increase the recharge time for the distortion skill (72-90s?).

Phantasmal Warden
Another change I thought would be interesting would be to allow the focus skill #5, phantasmal warden, to be applied to a target or if a target is not selected, could be placed at a point on the ground much like skill #4 temporal curtain.

general i like it to play more groupfriendly and i think it should go in this direction

Traits:

  • XIII disruptor`s sustainment becomes a aoe healing on interrup
  • Effect of singnet of inspiration for the group every 10s random boon for group
  • passive ppl unter the effect of “Illusions death” gain 2 seconds stealth when go in downstate and you create a clone looking like your teammember on its current position ( could also be for yourself instead of VI in chaos)
  • love the illusions : gives a additional illusion slot

Utility:

  • elite Mantra with 3 s quickness intern cd 5s general cd 40s or 1 seconds destortion for your group or give 1 cast to each mantra you use without channeling.
  • illusionary weaponswap gain weapons a opponent control, gain a skill he controls,
  • a skill that changes opponens walking directions like forward is backward
  • play death stealth and create a downd clone

would have many more but thats it for the beginn

These are cool ideas, but I’d rather rework some of the interesting traits and utilities we currently have now. That alone would open up a flood of possibilities for the class.

New Dueling GM Trait:
Destructive Dissipation- Clones deal damage to nearby foes when they are killed.

This should be able to crit (since its in the Precision+Crit Damage Line) but the base damage number should be calculated/lowered to compensate for that. And since clones are always dying in PvE, this trait gives Power mesmers a way to benefit from their dead clones.
This would be amazing for hybrid clone-on-death builds/Power PU builds and I find it a real shame that none of the new GMs benefit any form of clone-on-death builds. Dueling would be the perfect line to place this trait in because it’s only 10 pts away from Deceptive Evasion, would work in a 10/30/30/0/0 PU mesmer build, and as mentioned before it matches well in a Precision and Crit. Damage line over a Power and Cond. Duration line.

Mimic – reworked
Summons a mimic of your current target. Mimics will try to act exactly like the target, using as many abilities as possible. Friendly players cannot accidentally target your mimic and will easily recognize it. Might not work properly on very large targets.
The idea here is that you can mimic either yourself or a friendly player to confuse enemies, the mimic will appear to be using a lot of abilities but nothing has any effect at all. You can also mimic an enemy, making them potentially waste effects on the mimic or try to rezz the wrong person or so, while your people cannot even target the mimic and can easily tell it apart.

House of Glass – new elite
Rapidly summon clones to distract enemies around you. Clones move in random directions but always similar to how you move and will use abilities exactly when you do. These clones cannot be used for shatter or any other type of effect.
Duration: 20 seconds
Clones summoned initiatlly: 4
Clones summoned per pulse: 2
Pulses: 20
Clone duration: 6 seconds
Radius: 600
Say you run left, all clones run in a straight line but all in different directions. You cast anything, the clones start casting on the exact same moment, but use varying non-visually-overloading abilities instead of what you used (AAs, simple teleports, etc).

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

lolevy – i think your idea is great because there really is no benefit to summoning lots of clones in pve unless you rapidly shatter them.

Inspiration Grand Master Trait
Glamorous Recovery
20%+ outgoing heal effectiveness for you and allies inside of an ethereal field. Gain X amount of healing per second when inside of an ethereal field.

specified ethereal field so that it wouldn’t be broken when used with Portal

Also, it’s my wish that Feedback would become ground targeted so that it is more effective at actually giving you a defensive skill.

I think your house of glass ability is way to OP and would give mesmers 20s of invincibility unless they were fighting a staff ele or other high dps AoE class.

Yes, Chaos Storm would receive a collateral buff only so that the skill isn’t OP with Portal considering it lasts 60 seconds! haha

A glamour GM trait would give life to glamour builds from a supportive role instead of condition one (which has been nerfed to the ground) as well as giving people a reason to go 6 into Inspiration. I’m already envisioning a 0/0/6/6/2 tank glamour build with sword/focus+Staff. Omg it’d be so delicious.

Not quite, but it is intended to work a bit like a sleight of hand trick: You saw the Mesmer when she originally cast the ability. Do not take your eyes off her. Ofc, Blink and Decoy are going to make this iffy, but then there’s always AE barraging the area.

Not balanced for 1v1 ofc, but frankly if someone wants to worry about 1v1 they shouldn’t talk to me, I’ll happily sacrifice any viability of combat below 5v5 (and with it smallscale PvP modes, smallest should put 10-15 people per side on fittingly sized multi-objective maps) for implementing more lore-fitting and more interesting abilities.

Rather than so called balance changes, i’d welcome new weapons that will allow us players to have more choices over our gameplay style.
So as to give a few examples:
- bows or crossbows for mesmers firing signature arrows or bolts (similar to a burning arrow)
- polearms, pikes and spears for warriors (typical charge in and slam skills)
- Necros could get a transformation kit , to become one or several undead creatures
- Elementalists could get some combined powers (fire+ earth = magma powers or element A + element B = [insert crazy name here])
- Rangers could get a crossbow or throwing daggers kit
- Assassins could get claws (Wolverine will not be lonely anymore)
- Guardians could fight only using a huge shield to ram into monsters and wreck havok.

Etc. and so forth!

I feel that long-term, I’d want all classes to be able to use all current weapons in some way or another. Casters could utilize them as foci, ofc.

I’d really like a buff/debuff weapon. Something like a harp or maybe a deck of cards which would have all AOE attacks
Harp would play notes to give fury, might ect. to allies and weakness, cripple to enemies(cripple should be low duration or a bit longer but with a larger CD) maybe spread confusion

Deck of cards could be that you throw your deck in the air and as it falls it does damage, applies confusion, bleeding, knocks the enemy down for a brief period or w/e.

I can’t help but feel like you want mesmer’s staff skills applied to as deck of cards weapon.

I would like new weapon for mesmer to be whip.

But this thread is about new skills and traits.
So new healing skill Phantasmal Healer which will heal you and if someone get dawned he tryes to ressurect him.

And Elite skill Doppelganger which summon illusion which will do same attacks as mesmer on same target.

And i realy liked Echo ´s icon would be soo great to have it back as new skill.
