Honestly I would hate to go up against one, and if I defeated a mesmer he/she couldnt have a normal death it would have to be something cool like getting exploded or eaten by a dragon- since it would be soooo hard to kill one if they truly were real. In general any class could be extremely difficult to defeat if played well- but if mesmers were real… man, it wouldnt be fun to face them! But it would be fun to be one- what would be your ideas on them?

I could totally see a mesmer as being prissy and noble like.

If the world of GW were real I don’t think we would be as eager as we are in a game to eat each other’s faces off.

if i was a mesmer simple i would have a clone at work and a clone cleanning my house while i sit here the real me and play gw2

Given that Clones are, well, Illusions; the best they could do for is pretend to work at your desk while you slip away, And any kind of attempted interaction would likely reveal them.

And remember Clones need someone’s mind as a link, so you can’t conjure a Clone without another animal to cast it on and it likely wouldn’t be able to stray far from that animal either.

Hmm… if Mesmers where in a “real life” setting, Clones wouldn’t be tangible and only the target of your spell/magic would beable to see the clone. And because of that, that makes me thing this is a kind of metal manipulation magic, so the number of clones a person could see at a time might be affected by there mental state. The average person could be maybe see 3 at once, where as some one thats mentally strained could see more. And people who are mentally disciplined might be able to avoid seeing any at all.

Phantoms kinda have me baffled. I dont know if there attacks just trick the targets mind into thinking they were stabbed and the body reacts accordingly. Or if the phantoms are so dense with magic they actually create a blade/bullet of magic that deals real damage. And if they are dense enough to create a real blade, then others will be able to see the phantom, not just the afflicted person.

Very interesting thing to think about and come up with “rules” for.

I think Mesmer Illusions are better thought of as a combination of mind and chaos magic. So they are just figments of your imagination, but they also have enough chaos/ethereal/<insert your phlebotinum here> energy to have an effect in reality.

If I were a mesmer in real life, it seems it’d be great at dooping computer technology, AI and the like, but the moment I came across another person aware of the existence of mesmers they’d simply suppress the existence of my name, and suddenly the REAL me who’s name is undeniably, and objectively tied to me would reveal me for the real mesmer I am. Also, at that point, any warriors out there wouldn’t need a kill shot with Olympic level skills to take me down. Some newb level 1 commoner could shoot me with a pistol and I’d be down in one.

..Grenade tossing engies would be much worse…

nah i would just spam my clones to clean my house, while i’m playing gw2.
