Of course this was just a test on dummies, but with 3 clones and myself spamming auto attack with staff, I was able to hit 25 stacks of bleed, after about 15-20 seconds albeit this was not sustained for more than a second or two. I also managed to keep about a nine second burn and a constant 5 stacks of vulnerability, as well as maybe around 5 might stacks and 6-7 seconds of fury. Although I did not have any boon duration or might duration on me.

Implications (in my opinion):

This is actually a very strong buff as many of us probably suspected. Obviously you aren’t going to get 25 stacks of bleed on a person unless your clones never die, your opponent is standing still, you are spamming auto attacks and you and your clones are standing right beside the person. And of course RNG.

A PU condi mesmer will probably run 0/4/6/0/4 (yes they have to sacrifice Mender’s Purity to run this). However, with at least around 50% condition duration, the bleeds from winds of chaos will last around 11 seconds (this is from a WvW standpoint). Although I have not tested this in WvW, you could most likely keep at least 10-15 stacks of bleed on somebody constantly assuming they don’t have any condition removal, and with three clones and yourself auto-attacking it ramps up pretty quickly if you aren’t careful (most likely within around 6 seconds or so of constant attacking). The bleed stacking, in combination with scepter torment buffs have made the condi mesmer in general significantly more powerful. With all the cover conditions that they have the bleeds could prove to be hard to remove, although there are ways to avoid getting caught in that situation. It would be interesting to see how much might could be stacked with a PU build/Strength runes.

However, this also buffs power builds that use Staff, this gives Staff shatter mesmers some sustained damage, extra fury uptime and might when their shatter is on cooldown. That and the sword buff I think Shatter mesmers overall have gotten buffed pretty good.

In structured PvP, not sure how this change would affect their standing I will admit. However Mesmers got buffs in many different places in general so time will tell I guess.

It’s insane how much conditions I’m stacking up now. Makes the hybrid in me very happy, my average output went from 6764 damage per second to 9478. And that’s only from the condition side of the build. My targets are practically melting.

I’m very interested in how you managed to pull off 9.5k dps, in a condition build. Care to elaborate?

Before this thread becomes an OP Nerf whine thread. Dummies do not move, so you would be able to be in close proximity making all the bounces hit. No dodging, and the closer you are to the golem the shorter the distance the orb would have to travel to hit its target thus increasing DPS. But then again, the target is stationary.

In Spvp, you would not really notice a huge difference before the patch, given that you are facing someone not willing to eat all your attacks.

I’m curious too, I’d like to use a staff condi or hybrid build for solo pve and random pvp

He didn’t. You won’t reach 9500 without 25 bleed, burning, and 25 torment on a target that constantly moves.

Yes I mentioned this already
