GW2: it’s like DAoC, but for the WoW crowd.
Both Retaliation and Confusion have been made practically worthless in sPvP and WvW and as such the Illusionary Mage has become absolutely worthless for anything other than shattering. Has any dev even acknowledge this as an issue?

Why have they become worthless?
I play heavy condition spec on my Mesmer in SPvP and it’s mainly focused on Confusion and it’s great. I also recently played my Guardian with Perma retaliation and it seemed to work well too.
Has there been a really recent change I don’t know about?
Other than reducing Confusion Damage by 50% in WvW, no.
Retaliation is Power based, Confusion is Condition Damage based. You make one kitten condition better by making the other kitten boon weaker … and it only happens once per 6.75 seconds.
How is it not worthless?
i would like a power phantasm on torch instead of the condi image. I would like to use torch but having it just for the stealth on 30 sec cd is not that good.

I’d love the Phantasmal Rogue … but people think that Torch 4 is so good that 5 needs to suck to be balanced. I don’t know what they are smoking, but it must be some good S#!t

A phantasm wielding a torch that uses the Guardian’s Cleansing Flame would be amazing.

Yeah, OH dagger for mesmer is really simple: 4 = Phantasmal Rogue, 5 = Cloak & Dagger type skill that stealths and leaves a clone behind.

Well, this phantasm was already almost completely useless before that. I really hope they do improve it someday, but I don’t count on it. A staff clone does much more than this phantasm. And yes, this is kinda sad. If at least the cooldown would be considerably shorter…
I’ve managed to use it really well…. And even then, he does sub optimal ddamage.
Most of the time I use illusionary mage and followed by confusing images right after. The tthing is gthat I here hoping the enemy will spam most of their skills. (talking about pvp here )
It does a decent spike damage if they do start spamming their skills, however that’s the reason why the mage is… Bad. It is eentirely dependant on opponent action. While I do love punishing my enemies much like the gw1 Mesmer, the mage is scratch damage compared to the gw1 “Backfire”
The only other good thing is that, when traited, the bounces will remove conditions.
