Hey guys,

I played a lot of Engineer in full berkserker gear and had no trouble surviving, I`m wondering if Mesmer can do it as well.

I don`t know what build or weapons I`ll use for late game, I`ll figure that out while leveling, but I want to know if you can survive well in dungeons and such as full glass cannon with no Vit or Tough items.

As a mesmer you have several skills that will get you out of trouble. Most cloaking skills are like an instant aggro drop. Mesmer is perfectly fine in PvE as full glass cannon.

Surviving is not only matter of stats…

You have decoy to drop aggro in a second, you have skills like GS5 to push opponents away.

Sword 2 to evade
pistol 5 to stun

Blink to get distance

if all this is not enough think to get help from some sigils/runes

distortion from sword and even from a shatter, so always be able to get some, as long as you have at least and illusion up (or even without if you take the trait that give shatter on yourself too), and then you have both utilities and a couple weapons skills that give teleports, as well as some stealth skills, so yeah plenty of survivability.

Yes i may have quite a bit of toughness (but no vitatlity), but that becasue i run condition so toughness helps quite a bit in my dmg as well due to the converting of toughness to cond dmg from both trait and food (and can from runes too but chose lyssa there for more support from the 6th set bonus+sig of ins), but even with all that toughness, i rarely ever get hit, so wouldnt change much if i had different gear

Also remember that F3 is a daze if you’re out of endurance and your skills are on CD. Generally though, mesmers perform quite badly in the beginning since they depend more on their traits than most other classes IMO. At about lvl30 it starts picking up and when you unlock the master traits at lvl40 (and especially the every so useful Deceptive Evasion) you start being able to perform much better.

I run pretty much glass/shatter in dungeons, only today I had problems due to “Server Delay”, which never occurred before…

Just when you learn your weakness you will play it easily I say, It took some time for me to get there, but now Im there, and I rarely die

well if you played engi and had no prob surviving thern youll obliterate anything that stands in your way as a mesmer.
Phase retreat = a very fun game
ONLY one thing missing; another form of speed boost (except focus), – but i most prob wouldnt swap out a utility for one anyway- but it would be good to have the option : For more build diversity
