I was reading through GW2’s wiki and ran across the following statement about Phantasms:

“Phantasms are more powerful, having more health and causing more damage compared to clones”.

*having more health…

I could be mistaken, but it seems to me that my clones survive FAR more hits from the same NPCs than my berserker or duelists. Clones can usually withstand at least 3-4 hits, while the phantasms are easily knocked with 1 shot, 2 at most ever, and then the NPC moves on.

Is this a bug of some sort? It’s kind of a letdown to drop a berserker and have him get demolished before he even starts his first swing.

Anyone? Curious if that’ll be in the works to get patched up later or not.

Clones’ hp were increased by 50% from Aug15 Stress Test change. The wiki entry of phantasms has not been updated since that Stress Test. In fact, the sentence you quoted existed in the first ever revision of the wiki entry. (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Phantasm&oldid=181297 WARNING: OBSOLETE INFO)

Phantasms having more health than clones may be the intent when mesmer was developing, but thing changes.

NOTE: Clones’ HP increase does not imply clones should have more HP than phantasms. I only want to point out that the wiki entry does not necessarily reflect the current status of phantasms.

I wish Clones had a health of “Exactly one single target hit, or five hits of AE damage” or something like that (something auto-scaling), but in turn had an innate on-break effect.

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

Okay, I’m really starting to wonder about Clone/Phantasm health here.

At times, I’ve seen them take multiple hits (Currently using Signet of Illusions). Other times, I see them disappear before they even show up! And this is on the same type of PvE enemy even.

I am starting to think, whether its true or not, that the Phantasms and Clones start with 1 HP and drastically ramp up in HP until they hit their max or take the first bit of damage. That way, if your clone can avoid any dmg, whether AoE or targetted, if only for a bit then its going to have the baseline health. Otherwise, if it gets hit by something the moment its summoned, its gone.

YOU NEED TO BELIEVE IN THINGS THAT AREN’T TRUE. HOW ELSE CAN THEY BECOME?

It is SO annoying getting a clone or Phantom out and they die to an AUTO attack -.-
they need atleast a few thousand more health (at lvl 80) to actually survive long enough to be useful most of the time they can be sneezed at and die

It is due to a bug of Signet of Illusions.
I added my finding of that bug in one of the replies that may explain your observation.
