Q:
Is mimic getting fixed on April 15?
First, mimic is a great skill as is, and needs no fixes. Second, you’re thinking of the fake leaked patch notes.
Oh, you. Never change.
ya this skill is fine as is. sadly though not many mesmer use it because its ONLy good against projectile users :/
wish it was a 4-3 sec block even if it did not get hit with a projectile.
also yesteryday in wvw there was this killshot warrior….lets just say i caught his fast ball
wink
“Fixing” it mostly refers to stacking agony on things in fractals, so basically pve nerfs.
As to it actually happening during the patch, who knows, there hasn’t been any definitive word on it.
Mr Balance Dev was interested in looking at it, tweaking it, giving it a quality of life overhaul, over and above the PvE issues it had. But he didnt come back to us about any thoughts he had, let alone if or when it might happen.

That’s not entirely true. A projectile indeed is needed to initiate the block sequence, but that projectile can come from yourself. Once the that requirement is satisfied, mimic reflects all projectiles and blocks all other attacks of any kind (not just projectiles) for the remaining duration of the skill. Just wanted to clarify.
Also, OP – what exactly do you see as “needing fixed” for this skill?

I thought that was fixed a while ago.
Yeah, you can’t carry the echoed attack to other fractals any more; that was fixed a while ago.
best statistical loot in the game. We want everyone on an equal power base.”
Pre-launch, Colin listed things that make MMOs bad. They are all now in GW2.

They gave agony stacking bosses AR, still works fine on everything else.
EDIT: Yeah the segmented fractal areas also prevents it from going from fractal to fractal, on the Mossman instability you can still run about one shotting all the mobs though.

Yeah, John Peter said several months ago that they were interesting in fixing it and were taking suggestions, that along with the scepter AA.
And we know that some PvP meta changes are incoming to deal with the dominance of several builds, which isn’t explicitly stated in the poultry amount of skill/trait balance changes that are confirmed so far.
So we can expect there are a bunch of other changes we don’t yet know about, so it is possible that Mimic gets an update on the 15th.
I do love Mimic, esp the reflection, but it needs some work.
Mimic needs work and could definitely use some quality of life changes.
Don’t get me wrong, I understand that people enjoy the ability to use it as a Block + Reflect, however that is a secondary effect of the skill. The primary intent of the skill is to mimic a skill thrown at you back at an enemy (it’s in the name after all).
The fact is, Mimic is a poorly slapped together skill that ANet never managed to implement properly. It’s only saving grace is rare instances of being able to catch some potent projectile attacks (which you could have just reflected in a multitude of different ways instead) or in it’s undocumented tertiary effect of blocking all attacks made after you catch a projectile (which, as previously mentioned, can be triggered by the mesmer himself with a bounce skill).
A skill like Mimic is pretty much the prime example of skills that ANet should be looking into updating. Just because you happen to like the effect doesn’t mean they should let such a sub-quality skill implementation go without attention.
However, they’ve left it this long – and Scepter too. Soo, I’m not getting my hopes up. Though I do seem to remember a dev mentioning it.
/sigh
I so enjoned the Mimic and Scepter AA discussion back then. It is pretty disappointing we never heard back. While that doesn’t mean anything I don’t want to be hoping for any meaningful changes in April to just be disappointed.
Tbh I would like if it was started on mele and reflected it aswell. It would make it a more viable skill roaming both for condi and power builds. It also would be a tool to make non defensive builds a bit better equiped versus thiefs. Mimic a BS would make thiefs think twice before just spam attacks.

or changing mimic ( just an idea dont take it too serious)
making ur enemy do what u r doing, i mean moevemnts, and both u and ur enemy cant cast skill, duration 2-? seconds u still can use ur own proffession skills, so if u got 3 clones out u can either use it to make ur enemy run into ur shatters, or for phantasms, should also work with lockdown builds, it might be a little idea
ps: dont forget, just an idea, ppl were like : let ur clone follow u, or copy one of ur enemy skill, why not making ur enemy copy u?
edit: another way to land shatters as well (iLeap too unreliable, goes totall opposite direction of ur enemy or gets stuck way too often, and even worse, experienced ppl just dodge it)
