Champion Illusionist
Stormbluff Isle
I’m confused as this bug was reportedly fixed way back in September per anet, https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Update-Notes-8-September-2012
but it is still listed as bugged on the wiki and I read some stuff in recent forum posts referring to it still being bugged. Can someone who has actually tested it please confirm this, and also tell me how it interacts with the 20% phantasm health trait?
Cheers,
To all of us, it’s bugged. It takes some seconds to apply. I don’t know if it’s 50%/200%+20% = 70 /220 % . Or 50 %/200 % of the current HP pool (20 included).
Is it bugged to ANet ? I don’t know, it been like that since release.

The health boost occurs 1-10 seconds for after the illusion is created.
Grants +200% health rather than the stated +50%.
Applies its benefits to all summoned allies that can move.
so it will triple your phantasms health?
I think so, the only reason I’m using it. The fact that the boost is delayed makes it balanced somehow. With an instant +50% health I wouldn’t be using it at all, instant 100% maybe.
It doesn’t “take a few seconds to apply”.
Signet of Illusion “pulses” every 10 seconds (at least I think it’s 10) and applies its effect with every puls (but only once per illusion). So you can summon your illusion and have the increased health nearly immediatly or you may have to wait a few seconds.
Additionally it doesn’t increase illusion health by 50% but by 200% and I honestly have no idea how it stacks with the trait that increases illusion health.
If this effects are intended or not, only ANet knows, but since it is inconsistent with the tooltips it is listed as a bug.

As far as I know they stack independently of each other, but the 200% bug is clearly there, or Phantasmal Defender would not suck up 15k+ damage from an ele I tested it on. It needs to pulse every second and get increase to 75% health. Passives should not be useless, but they should not be that stupidly strong when you get a lucky proc.
@Leuca: yeah 200% is way to much and the potential 10 sec delay is annoying and just unnecessary. If ANet would follow your suggetstion and buff the trait from 20% to 25% you could get an even 100% increase which isn’t overpowered (especially if you consider the low health of phantasms).
At least for once one of our bugs somehow benefits us. We sure do have plenty of them these days.

Except that this has been around since the beginning and used to pulse every 10 seconds. They’ve gotten it down to 5 seconds, I believe, but I haven’t tested it since the supposed fix (which was about 4 months ago).
Even with the bonus health, it really depends on your playstyle as to whether you should use it or not. I’m running a full Phantasm spec, but in PvE, I use iDefender, Blink and Null Field. In PvP (WvW), I use Decoy, Blink and Arcane Thievery. It’s really not worth it for me to run Signet of Illusions, even if it gives 200% health to my phantasms. Why not? In PvE, Phantasms aren’t expected to live. If you’re able to get 3 [of the same] out, then they shouldn’t be expected to die, either. In PvP, you should only really expect a Phantasm to live through one or two attacks. Think of them as Conditions. They can get removed, so let them get removed and keep applying them.
I’m not using deceptive evasion, so I’m tyring to keep up my illusions as long as possible. It not only effects phantasms but also clones and as is, it changes them from “be hit by anything including a light breeze and die” to “can take one or two hits”, so it’s kind of important to me. I’d still be better off if they fixed this to be an instant increase at a lower bonus though, the way it works now is too unreliable, many times illusions will die before it kicks in, especially with some kind of AoE involved.

I’ve been using it in a shatter build, helps insure my bombs can make it to their target and maybe even take a few hits for me, plus the reset on shatter cool downs is pretty nice.
Well, now I feel stupid. I had assumed that this signet being active meant the health was present at illusion creation, not based on some lame pulse mechanic. Now I have a better grasp on why sometimes an illusion will seem to take less hits than another copy of the same.

I know it’s lame, but I try to use it to my advantage as much as possible. Think of it this way: If you’re trying to use your clones as a distraction then with this pulse some times the clone they hit will die instantly and sometimes it will have increased health. It might just help fool the enemy into thinking the higher health clones are you because they aren’t dying as easily. (WvW/PvP of course).
Just the mental gymnastics I do to be OK with some of the bugs we face hahaha.
of course its bugged. take about 3sec to be applied to your illusions which is enough for them to die 150 times…
