Is there a good PvE Support Buuild?
10/20/0/25/15 is a nice “do everything” build. You have ample access to reflects, personal damage, and phantasm damage modifiers. Full berserker, scholar runes. Mesmers have so many defenses available to them you really don’t need to run defensive gear.
Utilities-wise – you literally just slot in whatever is useful. If you need reflects, feedback. Condi-cleanse, you’ve got mantra of resolve and null field. CC? The stability mantra. Weapons – you’ll want sword/focus + sword/sword.
If she needs a res, you use the f4 distortion shatter to make yourself invuln then you can get her up.
They key thing to note with this game, is “support” isn’t healing, and support and DPS aren’t mutually exclusive. A player in this game is expected to deal damage, support and control when it is applicable – not just one or the other.
Game over, yo.
Pretty much what colesy said. 10/20/0/25/15 is what I call the ‘flex phantasm build’, because it’s pretty much solid for whatever you want to do.
The most important part of being a good party member is that you have to really know the dungeons yourself. If you’re doing Arah, you need to know when and where and how to reflect. AC, know to bring an ele, and know how to do the mounds, etc. Same deal for everywhere else. Know what utility is required for the encounter, and modify your build so that you have it.
The advantage of a mesmer is that you’re able to do that last bit. There’s never a situation where you can’t provide the utility necessary. The key is knowing what’s needed, and knowing how to provide it.
One additional note is that you should have all weapons available to you. Sword/focus + sword/sword is really the bread and butter, but every single weapon has its place. Even torch I’ll use, for example, in CM to get past that one room and portal my party, or if someone screws up on the abomination in CoE and I need to portal them past. Staff I’d toss on if it came to it that I needed to solo subject alpha—phase retreat gets you out of crystals on a 8 second cooldown. Greatsword I needed to use the other night when it was necessary for me to solo the Molten Duo. Every weapon has its place, even if that place is incredibly rare.

I run the Chaos Maestro build for fractals if I want to go support. 0/1/6/4/3 The point of this build is throwing out all boons every Signet of Inspiration cooldown. S/F Staff. For the most part I feel more comfortable if someone can throw out heals periodically cause stuff goes wrong easily in fractals.

Note that you can always trait mantra heals in a standard phantasm build.
The issue with this mindset though, is that if stuff goes wrong in fractals, people end up dead, not just close to dead. This is particularly true in higher level fractals where so many mobs are 1-2 shots.

It’s not mantra heals though.
Its every 45 seconds I Wardern/Line thing/Leap/Swap/Leap/Storm at feet/3 seconds/Signet. Everyone nearby gets pretty much all boons and a 300hp regen.
i go with the build hendo and pyro mentioned, a good all around one, keeps your phantasms kicking butt, here is vid by scoteinos with it, check and see if you like it, he also had some gameplay vids of it too

When Ascalonian warriors rush at you for 10k and mages insta-gib you, 300hp regen isn’t going to do much.

Yea… But I already put these runes of altruism into a bunch of Magi gear and I’m too lazy to switch. It feels okay for everything else that doesn’t instantly kill you, but man I wish everything wasn’t tuned to that.
I’m one of those full zerker people but… Magis… please use anything else besides Magis. Clerics at least if you want to be a healer but the new keeper set is great if you want to do some healing and actual damage. At least it has high power with low precision and healing power. Magis is the worst set ever for any class. Precision without power, crit or condi dmg is useless. Anything besides MAGIS!
Also, when enemies hit you for 10k, do you think retal even matters? The vigor you are sharing is at most 5 second assuming the ICD on the trait just triggered. That won’t help anyone on a 45 second CD. If you want to help boon support, start thinking about quality and intensity instead of quantity of boons.
To the OP, Hendo and Pyro have talked about an overall straightforward and good build to use. If you want to try something more boon supportish keep in mind that rangers have a trait that gives their pet a boon every time the ranger gets a boon. Have your gf use drakes for aoe or cats for single target dps + that trait. If she doesn’t have this trait, you will only share boons with the humans but not the pet. The big problem is that pets don’t dodge. Use reflects and interrupts to keep that pet alive and she won’t feel like she is playing a useless class. Sadly our new toy was nerfed into the ground so interrupting bosses will still be problematic. Runes of strength+sigil of battle/strength are great for might stacking and work with the mentioned builds. That might will also last 30+ seconds so trait signet of inspiration and you can actually maintain a lot of might on the group.
Well the build was originally apparently more a wvw build, and even he builds zerker with his trait setup. I might as well switch at this rate, considering how little it really helps. Is Keeper even available in exotics? I’m already being cheap about buying silk for ascended cloth.

If you go that route then I’d recommend 2/4/0/4/4. From my ph tests it seems that PH is equal to PS in terms of direct damage output over time. PS is preferred if you have heavy warden reflects (if it works at all) or if your phantasms die within 5 seconds of being summoned. Otherwise PH is preferred for everything else. As a bonus you get faster disenchanter cleanses/bootstrips and more bleeds per second proced from shaper images.
