Hi all, I recently started a new mesmer toon and even tho I find the class a little difficult to play, I think its also a very fun class!

This is the build I am aiming for, focussing on Illusions to fight by my side:

I was wondering, is this a good one for solo PvE leveling??
Are there utilities that fit better??
What type of gear should i be aiming for?? Damage or survivability?

Thanks in advance!!

For leveling that will work. You have a lot of survivability tools as a mesmer. If you’re going full on dps and use power/prec/crit dmg gear then you’ll need things like decoy, blink, and null field to help you survive. I had a hard time doing stories at first until I could beef up my traits some…so it might be a little rough starting out.

Later if you’re having issues with survivability in dungeons maybe take 15 points out of illusions and put them into chaos. That way you’ll get reduced dmg for each illusion and also receive protection from the 15 point trait.

Yeah you went for absolute maximized phantasm DPS, you will be squashy…..and you need to think about what you will do against big mobs who take out your phantams a lot. Or AOE. Its a good build it just lacks versatility.

Thanks for the replies!

After some more playing i found out i indeed lack survival.
So I tried to swap GS for Staff for more support and go from direct damage to more condition damage.
I came up with this build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgEQNAW8alwzaqnUzqGZ9IipH9GyFcoUgdZXJFz2FCTYAqmMNJay2krJZTA

However with the added survival spec/stats, i loose on the power trait tree. If going for the condition damage, wil the damage output still be good?
Should i have the power stat on my gear? or go full condition damage?

Thanks again!

(Edit: Fixed the link, noticed it was the same one as OP, its the correct one now)
