Iv fell in love with the mesmer
I’m glad you’ve fallen in love with the mesmer. It’s the one class I truly enjoy in this game.
The only answer I have for you is the focus #4 temporal curtain secondary skill into the void: it pulls from the center but doesn’t pull to the center. So if you drop it in the middle of a group they will end up 600 units on the opposite side of the curtain. If you pull from the side of the group it’ll work better. I do pve not pvp so it’s easier for me to pull mobs against a wall than it will be for you to pull players on a point onto a phantasm.
The only thing I can think of but a pro player may think I’m wrong, is to pull to group them up, summon warden and aoe stun with mantra daze before they disperse. As I said I don’t pvp so that may not work.
Good luck with your awesome choice of profession
Only thing to add is drop curtain check for stability start the casting of the warden, while casting instant hit the curtain to close it. If within range, no dodge the enemy will be pulled and the warden summoned right on top of him. With your trait spread hopefully a stun (lockdown) occurs and you profit.

Somewhat right, but few problems. Firstly, he doesn’t have CS, so no AoE stun, but that’s fine.
Once you place your curtain down, preferably near yourself or where you think the enemy will go or still be, start summoning your warden. Practice your timing a bit, and a moment before you summon the iWarden use the pull. If you interrupt, they’re rooted and take a good brunt of the phantasm. If not, they’re still CC’ed for a little bit and take some of its damage.
The combo used a lot is doing the iWarden-then-Pull trick to position the enemy next to the phantasm then use iLeap+Swap to absolutely root them to the ground, and add a Blurred Frenzy in there. This will trap the target between a rock[your phantasm] and a hard place[you]. Except this rock and hard place are swinging very sharp things at him/her[gender equality].
thank you for any and all help you can offer, was getting super super bored of thief the last year and a half, this is a nice breathe of fresh air!
Off topic, but if you had said elementalist and not thief, this would have been a great pun.
Does a pull count as a daze or is the confounding suggestions tooltip a little vague?
Pulls, knockbacks and such are not a “daze” so CS does not apply.
BUT, if you time your pull, knockback and such when your enemy is in the middle of casting, you can “interrupt” them, and traits like Halting Strike, BI and CI would trigger.
Or did he mean chaos storm?
I believe he meant that you can use Focus #4 pull/push to bunch up your enemy and then use the AOE daze of Mantra of Distraction and get a lucky CS parse(AOE Daze>AOE Stun).
Ah I get you. Thanks for clarification
Is there any trick to telling where your line will pull people to? i feel like mines a little unpredictable but in mid combat honestly im not paying super close attention.
Try to get a feeling of the distance it pulls and use the curtain at its maximum distance to get good control. It always pull people the same amount, towards the center of the curtain, if it’s placed close to the victim they pass over and continues across the curtain in the same direction.

4. I saw a video not to long ago (german fellow i think) based on a shatter build but had very very in depth tips on playing the class, i couldnt find anything myself if anyone could point me in the right direction thatd be sweet.
2. Iv only run sw/focus and GS as a lockdown, i saw another mesmer who was able to place the warding line and pull people into his freshly casted phantasm ( #5 on focus warden i think?) as part of a full burst and i pulled it off one or two times today but not definitely. is there any trick to telling where your line will pull people to?
The focus pull will pull any enemy towards it’s center. If you have a curtain down in front of you,and an enemy behind the curtain,it will pull the enemy towards ypu.too the center. If the enemy is in front of the focus it’ll pull him/her backwards towards it center.
What I usually do to burst down with the Ispinrightround phantasm is to make sure the target is immobilized. Too make the most out of the phantasm though you should interrupt BEFORE you’re done casting the Iwarden. I usually interrupt during the casting of the Iwarden with a mantra or the focus pull. Then when they’re immobilized and taking damage I follow up with another interrupt,to immob. if possible. If it’s not possible to get of a second interrupt I just put some extra immob. down with my sword 3.
Oh,if you’re planning to interrupt with the curtain and then spawn Iwarden you should always pull BEFORE the Iwarden cast ends. Or else it will spawn at the location where you pulled the enemy from. Some practice and you’ll get used to it :P
