just got one shoted by a warrior with a 8.149 kill shot from rifle. I am on 2827 armor. Not the thoughest but still okish. How is that possible?
I was roaming in wvw and the fight with a good warrior was even. I was keeping myself far and closing in for the occasional burst with sword. I did not bother to heal since the HP bar was half full… I had decoil, torch and whatever I wanted off cd… Half through the fight he just shot me once and to my disbelief I suddendly died.
My HP was 15602 but I am defenitely planning to increase it
If they 1shot you with 8,149 damage, I’d like to know how you lowered the minimum health on the mesmer by about 6 thousand.
this, and then I have a question as well. When he dropped to one knee and prayed to his god to shoot you, did you simply not see him or think that it wouldnt hurt you
A glass cannon warrior with some buffs can easily hit for around 18k (I’m assuming you just missed the 1 when you typed) and maybe upwards of 20-24k. It’s a glass cannon build and it can be reflected for great results though. It’s also really easy to see it coming.
I have two 80s which unluckly happen to be a mesmer and a guardian instead of a warrior. That could have helped me to know the class better and not ask silly questions.
So, sorry if I did not know that a war can do that amount of damage with a rifle. If only I knew it yes, you can be sure I would have rolled out of the way.

Kill shot damage is balanced by the fact that the warrior has to channel the shot and stay in position for 1 3/4 sec without moving otherwise it fails. Plus there’s a notable graphic when they do so.
You did not told us if it was a 18k hit.
Anyway, with a gc mesmer (and you are not) you could do roughly the same amount of damage with a rotation.
Kill shot is one of the easier skills to see in a 1vs1 and you really have to be blind to eat the damage. In a situation with more people its way different, especially if the warrior is a little asura stacked on a norn!
Almost every skill set has a counter to that skill – focus outshines the other for pull and warden dome plus reflection if traited (remember that you need stack on warden to do this), sword MH gives you blur, sword OH a single hit block, same with scepter (counterspell and counterblade also work), torch provides a blind, gs a kb, staff a daze for him or aegis for you and so on.
Next time, save your cds if you know they can help you. At that time a thief could also start to backstab you and you did not have a skill ready.
I got hit by a Kill Shot for 15k while I was at 50% health (max is 16k with WvW bonus), but that was because I was turning the corner and he was pre-charging it and I was like “LOL WHY IS THIS WARRIOR TRYING TO AUTO ME WITH A RIF-UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-…”
This was after taking out 2 of his allies and clearing a camp that he was standing in (they came after I cleared out the mobs).
Definitely could have paid more attention to that. (I think I had endurance for a roll.)
Lastly, I agree with what Levitas says, a rotation as a shatter mesmer can easily hit 15k (with a single phantasm, your MW can do 5k on a GC, if you have iPersona, that means you can do 10k [if you get lucky with crits] on a single target, adding in more phants can easily boost that to 16kish).
I had a warrior do this to me the other day that I was kind of dueling with in WvW. I had 95% HP at the time it happened, and it hit me for like 14.8k. I’m upscaled from lvl 60 in full zerker gear so no +Vit. I had thought I had got hit with siege or something since I was so close to the castle but sure as kitten it was Kill Shot in my combat log. Also, it was an Asuran and I couldn’t tell that it was kneeling.
I had a rifle Warrior try to do killshot in PvP the other day. I dont think I lost any HP at all during that fight.
In WvW I wouldnt really care. Warrior hit me for 8K, I am down to 14K HP. Push heal, back to 22K. Laugh as the Warrior spent all that time in a stationary position getting buttkittened by illusions.
I See them get down on one knee to give me a ring… They hit me and at a loss I’m scared and defensive while hes consistantly asking for an answer, I then regeain my strength and give the ring back =D

hmmm killshot has barely hit me so far. yeah it hurts if someone lands a killshot on you, but if u are not full glasscannon or upleveled u should be fine.

I was running away with engi in wvw from few ppl, which i was doing great, than suddenly puff, dead. I have little over 2700 armour and 18k hp and he crited me for 14,5k damage with kill shot, couldnt avoid since didnt saw that coming.
