By “fixed” do you mean “obstructed trying to hit someone standing 2 inches in front of you beating on you with a melee weapon”? Because that’s what is happening now.

Additionally, I’ve played Mesmer since closed beta and a bit post. Found it a bit too easy for the most part. Go scepter pistol/staff, map f1 – f4 on your razer naga, and your basically golden.
Not saying that mesmer doesn’t take skill to play, but the phantasm spam out of LOS was pretty attrocious in SPVP. I felt like i was playing WOW Tourny again, vs droods.
Now the good Mesmers will shine ever brighter, as the mediocres become even more dull.

Perhaps you need to read the forum more. You’re jsut like every other non-mesmer tourist. Thinking that a broken skill that we all agree needed fixing justifies carte blanche breaking every phantasm in the game (Seriously, explain to me why I can’t cast disenchanter to remove a condition from myself if the nearest enemy to be happens to have aegis?)

Perhaps, if you’re going to respond, you could bother to actually find out what people are complaining about.
I, and many other people don’t care that line of sight requirements were added to the Illusionary Beserker.
The iB also received (in the form of a bug) a large damage reduction, which was not intended. The combination of the bug causing most of the first attack chain of the iB to miss + the change so that blindness and being blocked causes the phantasm to fail to spawn and trigger the cooldown + the line of sight bugs making it impossible to determine if you will be obstructed or not makes the skill currently worthless.
Additionally, the line of sight issues with phantasms were not fixed, and the new bug is actually worse than mesmers being able to toss the beserker onto a wall without full line of sight.
The illusionary warden will now, consistently, every time it is cast at a tower or keep door, spawn inside the keep on the other side of the door. This is in fact quite hilarious when I spec my mesmer focus traits to reflect ranged damage – as during a keep siege I can now span iWardens into the keep, where they attack people trying to fix the door – and then ranged attackers kill themselves trying to shoot it.
So this patch introduced a bunch of new bugs, without actually fixing the single problem with the mesmer class it was trying to address.
Your response of “well every other class is broken and buggy also!” is a bizarre stance to take if you’re trying to defend these changes.

Your gloating “ha ha ha mesmer now you are like everyone else!” response to me was not constructive, and it was not about LoS on keep walls. It was in response to me pointing out that the LoS “fix” has introduced new LoS bugs that cause “obstructed” messages when someone is standing directly in front of you on open flat ground.

Additionally, LoS is -not- fixed. As I said above, illusionary wardens now spawn consistently inside of keeps when cast against the door, which is far worse of a problem (or a benefit!) than being able to toss a berserker up onto a wall ledge.
Actually the obstructed bug your referring too happens to most ranged classes. It also allows the new Karka monsters that roll, and the flesh golem to trigger their charge damage on a single character several times. I do hope they solve the clipping issues involved with that, but back to my initial question.

I didn’t. I don’t play sPvP. Neither do most the players. We have PvP/PvE split skills now, if there is a balance problem in PvP then they can fix it in PvP without kicking PvE and WvW in the head

I hope not, this allows me to hit NPCs or players for upwards of 30k with my Spear charge. After they removed everything else remotely usable in WvW to attack someone, and also made Portal unusable for anything but clipping-exploitation (because apparently the 5 players playing sPvP are more important or whatever), there’s something left where players have to think twice about attacking me, my underwater skills.
I need more nerfs! Just earlier I managed to kill an afk Necromancer!
That bug has been around for a while. I really do hope they address it. Really though, they are doing a pretty phenomenal job so far with the game so young.
Your LOS issue isnt a nerf, its what every ranged class in the game has to deal with. Us poor necros had our plague signet hit the same way you did. I mean at first its a little jarring, but it kind of makes sense y’know?
I mean im sure you didnt appreciate necromancers throwing 25 stacks of bleed on you, through a mountain or wall which you could not view em cus they utilized targetting functions.
Please level a Mesmer to lvl 80 in a PvE only environment before you make posts that only display your ignorance of the class and its mechanics. Thank you.
As others have stated, Mesmers’ ability to do ANYTHING is very reliable on our phantasm. Say, for example, that I am facing an opponent that suddenly pops aegis as I used my illusionary disenchanter, this phantasm does little damage to him but removes a condition from myself. Are you saying I shouldn’t have the ability to remove conditions from myself with my condition removal utilities? iBerserker is the most complained about phantasm for Mesmers after the nerf because it was our source of AoE damage. When farming in ore, an elementalist can shower meteors on his foes, necros have AoE marks, we had a phantasm that spun and hit enemies in a certain radius. By your logic, elementalists’ meteor showers should miss their intended targets, and they shouldn’t be able to attack people on the walls of keeps in WvW; they should have to do supply runs like us because we can no longer attack people along the walls with our AoE. At this rate, we might as well lose phantasms and become purple elementalists.

And there you go again you’re not listening to a word any of us have said.
Since when does Shadow Refuge fail because there is no LoS between the caster and their nearest opponent. Since when can you not summon a war banner if your nearest opponent executes a dodge roll, a Guardian can use Shield of Absorption even when he is all alone and no enemies are near.
For the 50th time, nobody seriously thinks offensive phantasms should be usable outside of LoS, but mesmer’s have utility phantasms that don’t attack yet these changes effect them too – this is not the definition of fixed.
They fixed one skill, and broke several.

And you think this because of your vast experince of playing a mesmer? LEarn a bit about illusions the dmg illusions also have a untility function. Same as alot of abilites in game. Like thief #3 arrow, if my traget blocks/dodges/los/invul my shoot they do not take dmg or snare but I still get my evade and jump back. And this is same with many abilites that also provide a untility. Not so for mesmer thier whole ability is stoped. No range reflect on iWarden, no cond cure from illusions etc.
As a thief class I really feel sorry for mesmers now. What use to be a tuff class to kill is now easier than a ranger to shutdown. Atleast ranger cans till do dmg/abilites even if poor. My thief shuts a mesmer completely down with AE blinds on a stealth and blinds on attacks.

Good riddance too, I think its more interesting playing mesmer, instead of playing tag around pillars at the henge on forest of niflhel.

FIXED?? it’s now become a useless skill the only good aoe mesmer had they took away. try do an event most of the time the skill fails becouse you don’t have a clean los. well was saving mats and so to make an legendary weapon for my mesmer but now I dunno I wanna play this kittened up class anymore… This I a NERVE TOO MUCH

So meteor shower should miss its targets when the caster is blind? Or should the caster simply have that skill say “Obstructed, OBSTRUCTED OBSTRUCTED!” I agree with you, ArenaNet should fix LOS. Make is so no skills can be used on blind that requires the caster or fighter to see its target. You’re a necro, right? You are no longer able to cast marks on the ground when people dodge, have aegis, or you have them blinded. Enjoy

No the LoS stuff is perfectly fine. The Blocking/Blinding of utility/defensive skills isn’t.
If my Clones and Phantasms were nothing but attacks, I would be happy with it. The way it is, my interrupting, my defence, part of my condition removal, this all relies on them.
Fine, but in turn I want to be crushingly powerful if it actually works, then. Nope, no deal. Well, outside of sPvP, which is why I hold the stance that it would be best for the game if sPvP dies in a fire. Then at least balance can focus on actually important areas of the game (and mind you, I like to play sPvP, I just think it should be low priority, it always feels like a tacked-on minigame, good for a laugh or wasting some time, never the focus).

I don’t know. But was the crude fix for this single problem worth breaking several skills in the two major game modes PvE and WvW? Especially since they already started to separate PvP and PvE/WvW skills? I doubt so. And if you actually think so, you’re too self-involved to be taken seriously.

Yea except other classes can use their urtilites still. When I am blind I can still use Deathbloosom to evade. Or on warrior still use whirlwind to evade away etc. The mesmer can not.

No it wasn’t. The point of your post was to make some sort of argument that since there was no way to counter this one particular situation in spvp, it’s fine that arenanet released a patch that a) made line of site a requirement for phantasms and b) introduced multiple bugs… as if the only alternatives were 1) do absolutely nothing or 2) release a buggy, untested patch that broke core mechanics of the class.

If this mesmer with iBerserk was nagging you around the pillar.. any AoE on yourself would get the job done.
In this very case I would used to // CTRL+T // spam “Mark of Blood” and “Putrid Mark” on me, “Chilblains” nearby and “Reaper’s Mark” on the pillar.
Once these condition have been meet, with either dagger or scepter+focus, I would face rolling the keyboard to take him off.
You know force the enemy to change tactics.. whatever.
Side note.
Since pushing 5 button must be so an overwhelming experience, you should have just ask in your team for help instead of crying wolf.
Now as result, you have a REAL broken class with broken skill – good job.

-WVW- This is disheartening. Goodbye (Focus/Greatsword) hello rolling another toon that can actually do damage to arrow carts and players(los). All I play is wvw and I don’t have time to fully gear out another toon so I think I may be done with GW. Playing GW/WVW will be missed.
Dralus, that’s just /wrist-ing. The change is annoying, but not actually that big of a perceived difference in WvW. I mean, we weren’t exactly good at fighting up onto walls as it were (we rock when fighting from the walls, OTOH).
If Phantasms ignoring LoS was the corner stone to your success as a mesmer, then you’re not as good of a mesmer as you think you are.
@OP was it really that hard to 2-hit a phantasm and find the mesmer? Or just 2-hit the phantasm whenever it spawns, as the mesmer obviously has no intention of capturing anything and is just kittening on by…?

My comment wasnt a global statement for all mezmers. Hitting arrow carts and such even if it did take awhile to take one down yorself still made me fill useful. When taking a tower it is what “I” enjoyed. If they made zerker ground targetable i think that would solve the pvp/wvw los complaints (which can be valid) and still allow the mechanics to be almost the same.

It is not that we don’t care about is question, due to him not caring about Mesmer issues, it is that most people here assumed he was trolling since he was asking such a pointless question, and thus he was just ignored… until he kept spamming the trollish question to then people then answered his pathetically easy troll question just to shut him up.

I love how he pretends to be a Mesmer when the second person replying to his post showed that he is a Necromancer. But apparently we should believe he is a Mesmer because he played the class in beta… like most of us didn’t play other classes in beta.
