I’ve played up to rank 22 in sPvP and came across the situation too often I just may look like any other of those ranters with just enough critical sense to allow this to be considered but please hear that.

On the many games peoples played (they’re not tiger ranked but got more than an hundred hours maybe…) a lot heard about those ‘’mechanical exploits’’ considering mesmers and minions team-match-up wich are incredibly frustrating for too many players.
Mechanical exploits, dont be cheap on the terms please, its what it is. There’s no reason why some people would favor a class wich can avoid so much exposure in combats and we’re not even talking about thieves.

People got lots of respect for thieves since they got a few hides in term of mechanical, wich is tricky but not endangering the whole sPvP mechanic, a blow will land like paper in it since its easy to get the basic positionning and moving ranges.

They are hated at first, when starting PvP, we’ll agree, but they’re nothing compared the confusion a team of mesmers and minion spammers will do to a game.

Once again, losing to incredibly versatile pro in 1vs1 like some engineer I’ve seen is nothing less than totally honorable and I salute their skills.
They agily switch between sets, put a turret to regen, get protection from a potion ant stack might and use every aspect of the game like it benefits them like it shoul. Kudos to that.

What needs to changes is the ability of spamming tier characters.
I just came back from a game in wich we where 4 against a single mesmer, and still I get my mind-blown we could’nt bring him down.
Mesmers spam endless amounts of clones AND illusions. That is TWO classes of summons, basically, wich makes them more reliable summoner than their necros cousin. Add to this the fact that they can disappears, cloak and you got an OP class, simply put. This is basically, a thief, without sneak attacks (wich he wouldn’t even need since he can damage you with summons WHILE he’s cloaked!).
And I’m not talking of the games where there’s FOUR of them on the same 8vs8 team, no… I wouldn’t dare, but it happens.

sPvP is about only one thing, exposure on the field, we’ll agree. No exposure, no death.
Its no wonder top tier players, and the more I get seriously to it personnaly, come more and more against necros, thieves and mesmers, wich are classes that benefits of a minimum of exposure on the field, totally understandable.
But much less fair than a skilled elementalist that decides to switch to his earth atunement, a guardian relying on classical buff spamming or that big tankie charr warrior there (once again, kudos to you guys up there).

Necros, not only benefit from the basic highest HP pools of the game alongside their brother warriors (yes, that’s right, a caster class wich got more natural HP, 18K at lvl 80, than rangers, engies AND, yes, guardians…) to that, please add a bit of life force wich I’ll take from GW2Wiki ‘’and can be further increased by the Life Force Pool attribute linked to the Soul Reaping trait line, up to a maximum of 78% of maximum health’‘, in this case, one supplementary health bar.
Again, they’re reducing their exposure incredibly by switching to an additionnal lifebar reaching almost a total of 60k hp, but they’re giving the ability to summon… honestly?

I understand the illusion shattering is the bread and butter of the mesmer, even tough its not regulated for PvP in my opinion but the kitten nal of skills beneficing from it that also exploit further mechanics like cloaking, distortion is making them cheap classes in PvP, voilĂ .
Anet gave pets with very few synergies with his hunter, or a ghostly hammer and sword to a guardian and kitten flags to warriors… no warbands (sorry Charrs, your class skill are deactivated in sPvP, while necros and mesmers do what they want.)

Now consider these 2 options:
-Put a smaller maximal number of minions per necromancers, a smaller maximal number of illusions in play at the same time for mesmers or nerf their cloaking/blinking/distorting abilities in PvP somewhere.
-Filtering solo games so no more than 30% of actual player can share same class to make it ’’fair’’. Why it wouldn’t be fair? Because a map in wich there’s 15 clones on a capture spot is just not fair, too common and people wont want to change to a class they dont like simply because they need more AoEs, it wont happen.

I love sPvP, but the more I advance, the least recognition I got for mechanical abusing classes that I wouldn’t EVEN dare play with because I got too much respect for good, long, skillful and fair fights.

Allow me to summarize the forthcoming thread before it begins.

L2P

Every complaint here is a L2P issue. Go make a mesmer, learn the class, learn how to counter it. Stop whining.

Okay, 2 L2P in a row and more to come. I can understand in a 1v1 (and 4v1 in the scenario) it’s a L2P issue, but let’s stop a second here…

Aren’t you guys confused when you see a MM, Spirits, Spirit Weapons, Turrets and Clones ? When I see a MM necro and Spirit ranger coming I get super confused, now get mesmers in the mix. I’m not even talking with an engineer spamming grenades included.

The AI is out of control.

I’ve only played mesmer since launch.

When fighting another mesmer, I quickly single the real mesmer out in the fight, including when he comes out of stealth, and focus him down.

How? I learnt 2 play.

Your mention of 8v8 leads me to think you primarily, if not entirely, play in hot-joins.
The game is not balanced around 8v8, and hot-join is where most beginners/bads play. I can totally understand why 3 or 4 (excuse the term) noobs couldn’t take out what was likely a tourny player mesmer messing around in hot-join in his off time.

I can agree with you about minion builds being lame though. Whether that be phant mesmers, spirit rangers, minion necros or w.e else, they’re kinda cheesy builds.

im not confused when i see mm and mesmer clones as i know exactly which one the mesmer is. even if they act like clones i know they are not as the real mesmer is the only one that uses other skills than autoattacks and also is able to dodge. also other ai doesent confuse me.
but honestly i would gladly give up some of my ai and get some more viable aoe for wvw though.

This is seriously the most complain heavy post I have read on these forums. You have clearly not made the effort to learn anything about the various classes and mechanics in the game.

Mesmers can have 3 illusions out at once. This counts both clones and phantasms. (Your assumption about ‘clones and illusions’ is wrong. The two types are clones and phantasms, which by definition are both illusions and thus there are only 3 at once. For example: 1 clone, 2 phantasms= 3 illusions.) Please make a mesmer or have a friend who has a mesmer practice with you, as this is a learn to play issue.

Necros can have 6 minions (not counting the spawn from death magic 5). These minions are fairly easy to deal with with any kind of AoE or cleaving attacks. Necro’s death shroud is annoying, but is quickly burnt when they are focused and using any kind of CC on necro’s will leave them vulnerable to being focused. Learn to play issue.

You’re playing a ranger, based on your screen. Ranger is a fairly hard class to figure out in spvp, but build yourself appropriately and you’re fine. Spirit Rangers are fairly annoying, tanky/condition rangers are a pain to deal with. Obviously the set up you made isn’t adequate to deal with the spvp environment, so you need to adapt and grow from that experience and get better as a player.
