Light's Judgment Trap
On its own, the skill looks justifiably strong given its huge cooldown (45s, 36s traited).
Having said that, DH has access to a ridiculous amount of movement impairing CCs thru wards, pull, knockback, immobilize, etc. to keep enemies stay in the trap.
This synergy might be the thing that makes this trap, and possibly other traps as well, downright broken.
Yeah, considering the amount of damage these traps are able to unload, and the amount of CC that the class has (ring of warding, gs5, bow 5, dragon hunter elite), I think it’s absurd how they’re considering removing the float from gravity well.

it applies 1 second of them, 10 seconds only if you decide to hang around inside the trap
rely less on stealth and more on your own skills

decide is not an option lol, they can KEEP you in the trap if they want to.. >_____>
First, I think other trap skills should be balanced to this level, then the whole set should be tuned. It’s silly to have 25 stacks of vuln for one profession and 1s of burn for another. Silly.
Second, the DH has a LOT of movement-oriented skills. A LB weapon movement skill, a trap, a close-range, cripples. Our blinks and mobility are our greatest asset here. If we see more of this, I think our stability and teleport skills are going to see a lot more use.

We’re already forced to take and use these to their maximum degree now… :p
Ive never seen a thief hit with revealed suffer unless he’s not aware. They just switch to superman superior mobility mode and reset the fight. Mesmer on the otherhand might be caught out with some limitations in that regard. Still, we’re not completely helpless under revealed.

Hehe you’re pretty right. I can’t imagine WvWing without my staff and blink… and the guardian’s control+vuln+condi triplet hreat isn’t making that much better.
I’m actually more scared that their AA basically means perma cripple for Mesmers. And illusions. Sounds like a hardcounter for shatter Mes to me.

Yeah lol… let thieves worry about the traps. DH will have an auto attack that cripples once the attack bounces to another target. Necros, Rangers and Mesmers (minions, pets, clones) are so out of luck screwed up the kitten ! :-)
Those mirror traits/skills are looking even more juicy now. :>

Yep, but i think the trait that knockbacks can’t be reflected. I hope it will be, but i doubt it highly.
^ Usually only characer that i play on

Yeah, I expect some things may be immune to the effect, but at least giving them a longbow means we have the potential to counter it (unlike if they gave them a mesmer GS like weapon… shudder)
All skills the Dragon Hunter got seems really strong to me, yet the devs don’t seem to mind at all. Meanwhile Mesmers get “hmm this might be a little strong somewhere (uncalled for), let’s nerf it to half effectiveness or give it a 30s ICD!” on most of their skills>.>

Yeah I get the same feeling. But until we see our full trait line it will be hard to tell. But honestly it seems like DH is way stronger than Chrono with shorter CD’s.

So far i can agree to this

Which sucks. They gave us some really interesting stuff and I hope alacrity really makes as big an impact as they say it will to be on pair with DH because I see the f5 being very situational.

Mesmer exists to give alacrity to guardians so they can be even stronger

thief will jsut Shadow step out of it or with sword #2 do the same
mesmer will blink away
the stealth is 1 sec pulse so unless you catch them without any breakstun the trap and the guardian skill will kill them same as today
I had a look at their presentation video and tooltip and I must correct you on the base damage. From the video it seems to be 1100 divide into 10 pulses (he only deals around 300 crit damage per pulse), not 1100 per pulse. A bit similar to our blurred frenzy where the tooltip shows Damage(x8): total damage instead of total damage per hit. The main killer for this skill is 25s vulnerability which makes guardian’s other skill quite deadly.
What’s amusing about it (to me) is that this trap (and other traps) are going to let the Guardian stealth :-p
Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.
Better yourself.

This is my main thought. Them worrying about our float seems less justifiable after seeing the guardian skills.
Comparisons aside, I think the skill is fine and appropriate. I don’t think this will effect most of anything except for PU builds which exclusively relies on stealth. I’ve never had issues with being revealed before on my power builds, except when I make the mistake of revealing myself.
