when you unlock tier 2 traits, why not give mantras a shot with restorative mantras on the inspiration tree?
You’ll come to love the sustainability with the endless heals

Mantras?
yep, Mantra of healing for heals, Mantra of Pain can act as another heal when you chant it, Mantra of Distraction is great for interrupts, and Mantra of Resolve guaruntees you’ll never have conditions. ever.
ps: this isn’t exactly an easy build to run of course, you’ll have to figure the best timing for popping your mantra abilities, but once you settle into a groove it’ll feel wierd going to anything else.
If you don’t want to run pure mantras, signets tend to work nicely together with them, or swap out mantra of distraction for mirror images or decoy

GS will super be fixed soon; the devs have already announced its damage as bugged.
While leveling, I’d try to stick with a shatter/clone build. Staff is a great weapon. Sword/Pistol is a wonderful set.
I’d keep chugging along, just swap out your GS for a Staff and toss in some Sword/Pistol while you anticipate some patches.
I was planning on making a staff-condition build anyways, I was playing more and more with the staff rather than the GS-condition.. but the biggest thing holding me back now is the uncertainty of this new kitten gear treadmill. I don’t even know if it would be worth it to make exotic jewellery, since we’ve all seen the treadmill uber jewellery already… and everyone’s thoughts on that.
I really don’t get what condition damage the mesmer uses. Mine never does condition damage, not with GS, not with sword, not with pistol, nor with staff or sceptor.
LF mesmer build without any clone and fantasm since Anet kill them all.
Oh right, its not GW1 we dont have choice.
The day where Anet turn GW2 into a gear treadmill game and kill the mesmer.

Mantra healing builds are actually very nice with good healing gear it’s a very large amount of AoE healing now BEFORE this patch it was absolutely insane unlimited target aoe healing it’s now limited to 5 targets the radius seems fairly large though but spamming 3k + heals can really help during a keep assault and during portal bombing. It won’t keep anyone topped off but it can really make the difference between a win or loss giving someone a few extra seconds to scatter and get out of aoe etc..
I occasionally run a pure reflect + heal build and still find myself able to contribute a lot in WvW.

Besides mantra builds what other builds viable now? I’m getting a bit lost since as most mesmers i used GS/staff as well. Can someone help me out and let me know what builds should i try on? Mainly PVE and dungeons, lately on WvW a bit. Also scepter is really that bad for Pve and dungeons?
Thanks in advance!

scepter-sword is excellent for soloing champions. the double-block and rapid clone generation against single targets really helps you outlast, but because the main attack does not bounce and the block applies to only one attack, the scepter becomes useless compared to sword once you exceed one target.
thanks! good to know! i will go with sword+focus or pistol/staff. I guess i have to get more friendly with the idea to get in melee range :-)
The only weapon that does any conditon damage is the staff, it does bleeding and burning. None of the other weapons do condition damage. Unless you count vulnerability.
Also did they fix the GS yet? I haven’t seen it in the patch notes…

so this means i should always be on staff and only switch to sword or scepter to get some other phantams up?
regarding the gs fix, i personally would not hope for a fast fix when i read this :
I copy the main sentence here:
There are >500 skills in this game, 480 traits, and 2 designers working on this.

Sharper images, adds bleed from illusions on crit. Mesmer also of course has access to a lot of confusion, granted the performance of confusion in pve is a bit lackluster at times, but with sharper images and staff clones out and using illusionary elasticity you can maintain a decent amount of bleed stacks, as well as burn using the staff and when you switch over to another weapon set you still have access to bleeds through sharper images. Even though the staff has a long range to it’s autoattack I have found it better to use in close range so that you can benefit from the boons you receive on bounce back, it gives you might as well as fury for increased crit chance which in turn also adds to the amount of bleed stacks your illusions will do. Use chaos storm defensively drop it on yourself and the mob and your clones and watch things melt in that circle when it is close to expiring phase retreat through it for chaos armor and to get some distance from the mob if it is not dead.
