Mantra of Distraction
It already does though.
:P
But seriously, using it pre-emptively to prevent skill use for a wopping 1 second is hardly what would constitute as faceroll.
The mantra is fine, it’s Confounding Suggestions that makes it op.

So yeah, it dazes when your target is doing nothing. Thats what I meant. Only daze when your target is using a skill.

Yes, and even more so because everyone is spamming it on recharge. Because it WILL daze (now stun) your target regardless of him using any skills.
Combined with Chaotic Interruption, this is just a free spike setup for even the most incompetent player on earth. Which will most likely one shot most players.

I think you missed the joke friend.

I’m not entirely sure I understand your angle here, you want it to only trigger as an interrupt, but at the same time are citing CI as a reason that its to strong, if this changed as you wanted it to, how would this interaction be any different?

Yes in combination with other traits, and mesmers spike capability, its very close to faceroll.
You can stun your target, plus immob him (from CI). To land your spike no matter what. And Mantra of Distraction is quite part of this faceroll because it can be used without thinking, on targets just walking by.
So.. Mantra of Distraction shouldn’t daze into stun into immob into death, while your target isn’t using any skills. Exactely
With the change im suggesting, MoD will have counterplay, and CI would be a lot less faceroll.

But in that instance, the result would be the same.
Stunned+Immobilized is more or less the same mechanically as Dazed+Immobilized.
You are CC’d, and cannot move due to the stun or a condition.
In the first instance, you must break a stun in order to move, but you are still unable to due to the immobilize.
In the second instance, you cannot use your condition removal due to being CC’d and as a result must first stunbreak.
Barring some instacast/dual-purpose exceptions, you have to use both a stun break and a condition removal to deal with the situation, or some teleport skill, which would work the same in both instances.
Am I correct – you say this mantra is too faceroll, yet you suggest it to become more faceroll? o.O

How to counter MoD
Step 1: Check Mesmers icon bar for MoD charges
Step 2: Proc stabos
Step 3: Do yo thang
If no good access to stabos, or a thief or something, hide in stealth, burst first, use your damage mitigation etc.
Pretty much if you’re going to play a glassy, bursty, power build you gotta up your game and/or change your strat when other hungry glassy, bursty, power builds are roaming around. Bring a friend. Bring two!
I don’t think OP knows how CI works. OP says that MOD should only daze when the target is using a skill. The reason he gives is that MOD + CI is too strong. But CI only triggers if you land an interrupt, so OP’s point makes no sense.
MOD with CI is fine.
MOD with Confounding Suggestions, on the other hand, is a bit strong. As long as you aren’t spamming dazes off of cooldown, you basically have an instantcast, uninterruptable, ranged 1-second stun. If you learn to time and combo it well with mirror blade + mind wrack, it’s crazy strong — all on a fairly low CD (especially since you can usually reprep MOD immediately after you’ve used both charges now; just need to cover it with stealth).
Then again, almost all the other classes have crazy strong skills now, so I don’t know if this synergy is out of line.
