Merry X'mas from Anet to Mesmers
Different classes are different. Mesmers might not be meant to have the burst of Thieves and Warriors, but we compensate in other areas. The new Shattered Strength is simply too powerful for what is essentially a “free” trait for Shatter builds.

I was unclear on which he was referring to as well, but I hope the same as you.
Shattered Strength is the first real buff we’ve gotten in a while (Ever?) and I’d like to not see it nerfed immediately after it was buffed.
All it does is allow us to get the kind of damage using like 6 skills that other classes get from 2 (Or one, in many cases).
And really the only times that it’s hard to avoid a shatter is if the mesmer is right in your face and pops Mirror Images then Mind Wrack right away, in any other situation you can sit there and watch the clones stroll casually towards you, shatters have got to be one of the easiest attacks to the just straight out dodge in the game, they should be worth it when they connect.
I am fine with them toning down the shattered strength, it does seem a bit too powerful as is, for burst potential. I am a bit more worried about them saying they are going to address the entire build, not just the trait.
That being said, if they bring it down they need to do the same to the steal-c&d-back stab combo that can do over 20k.
While it’s possible they may be just addressing the f3→f1, I highly doubt it. It seems much more likely that they will completely overstep what is necessary to bring the power shatter build in line with everything else, and totally nerf it into the ground.
This may be a pessimistic view, but it seems the most likely one based on their past actions.
Pretty sure he isn’t even aware that there might be a bug involved. He had no clue that the “phantasm delay that was in since the BWE2” wasn’t affecting most people since they took the traits to get rid of it.
Lol they prob won’t nerf shattered strength. They will nerf “Dazzling” which I think is worse IMO
Our shattered strength is nice but I think the QQs are coming more from actually landing a full shatter while they still have vulnerablilty stacks since it was so unreliable before.
I don’t have any real numbers to back this up so I could be wrong. but noticing my burst with and without it, I’m sure dazzling is the thing going to go. I normally don’t QQ but that would make me do it.

I swear this has a name as a syndrome of some description – sort’ve like stockholm syndrome.
We go months and months suffering nothing but nerfs; we finally catch a buff that puts our might stacking on a par with other classes, and suddenly people want nerfs because they feel it’s overpowered and they feel guilty about that…
C’mon guys, wake up and realise we’re not being buffed overpowered here, we’ve been given that wondrous and rare thing called parity with the other classes :p – at least in PvE anyway,. this change might well be OP in PvP but PvP can go choke on a dolyak for all I care

Lol they seem to have completely removed the thread regarding shatter mechanics being broken and scaling too far. Not even in my previous posts section. It’s just gone.

Why in god’s name can’t they make these changes separate between PvE and PvP… I have literally never done PvP with my Mesmer or any other character, and I keep getting the same nerfs for no reason. I’m sorry, am I not supposed to be useful in PvE?

I would not be surprised at this. It’s not just mesmers either, they’ve been clueless on a lot of issues for other classes as well.
I think that’s the main reason there have been so many confusing nerfs and buffs between most of the classes, they don’t fully understand them and also why a lot of bugs have gone unfixed for so long.
The only thing the devs know about mesmer is what they get told in the SPvP forum. I doubt any of them play the class. That would explain why the compare us to the thief class rather than comparing elem to the thief class.
Elem is closer to thief than mes. Elem has a teleport. Elem has super speed. Elem has an kitten load of condition skills. Elem is a magic thief that changes attunements instead of weapons.

Mantras used to require 3s to charge. They increased that to 4s without giving a reason. This change is merely a rollback of Anet’s mistake, not a “buff”.

I really hope so too….I dont see why nerfing shattered strength, cause every class has some spec that grants them some kittenload of might stacks, then to use that trait you’ll have to sacrifice some power or crit.
And if we want to add some personal reasons i just spent like 60 golds to make a cool innovative build for WvW which got shattered strength as an important part but its not a usual shatter burst or a phantasmal build….. so for sake of game variety dont nerf my build lol !
This class is just good for it’s DPS nowadays anyway. I mean yea we have some amazing utilities….on 40 45 second cooldowns that only last for 3-4 seconds. I made a Mesmer because I thought it was gonna be about controlling the mobs and using CC. Not splitting the skills between PvP and PvE is ruining this class IMO. I don’t know why they’re so adamant to keep them the same.
they will nerf it beyond what needs be and ruin this class once again mesmer is mainly DPS so take that away what is the point of this class
What I hope is that, if they nerf something with it, they nerf Shattered Strenght and only that.
What I fear and is very likely is that they will nerf clone generation or add CD between 2 shatters and just kitten many other builds and gamers just because of one trait >_<
TBH I would rather they nerf our DPS but give us more control and CC. Since that’s what the class is supposed to be about
LOL Mesmer nerfs aren’t even front page of sPvP forums anymore as of posting. guess ppl are learning to counter it.
But in all seriousness is it really unbalanced for us to have comparable burst to warriors and thiefs?
Whom Warriors need little to no set up. And thiefs can kill you before you can even humanly react? Both with fesable ways to recover and try again?
We need much more set up At least 6 clones worth, blowing almost everything on both weapon bars, and two shatters between them to have comparable damage.
(I dunno why OP thinks our shatters need a C/D between each other. Having to pump out clones is enough. And only two of them even do damage)
And if we fail our burst we’re in a lot worse of a position than thief or warrior will EVER be.
not to mention we really only pull off that damage with vaulnerability stacks and that’s on a 45 sec C/D.
