Lord Vizslacore {Necromancer} [RLR]
Cemblance {Mesmer} [RLR]
Hey guys, I really enjoy the condition side of gameplay despite it being lackluster in certain areas. I made this build mainly for dungeons and casual open world play. Its for fun and what I enjoy, I’m only looking for criticism to make it better, different trait allocations and choices what I could remove or add to it to increase my condition DMG. Everything about the build is fair game to change, runes sigils you name it. I just would like to know if this build could be viable.
The glamor confusion traits don’t stack well anymore, confusion is a terrible condition in PvE in general, and you have no reliable way of continuously applying serious conditions in the first place (unlike Necros, etc.).
Don’t do condi mes in dungeons, it just doesn’t work.
If you do want to experiment – you need to vastly increase condition application. Scepter doesn’t attack fast enough for Earth sigil to matter much(also, you can’t stack multiple crit sigils — yet), you need to grab a pistol instead of the torch to take more advantage of Sharper Images, and you need Deceptive Evasion so you can burn dodges for more Debilitating Dissipation procs (move 5 from Shattered Strength since you don’t want to shatter much anyway).
I’d swap Blinding Befuddlement for either the staff bounce trait or phantasmal haste for faster duelist attacks, and probably move the 20 Domination points into Inspiration for the Scepter trait for another +200condmg. Take dual Geomancy sigils for more AoE bleeds, and Corruption on the pistol to build stacks (swap to Bursting when maxed).
All that said, you still wouldn’t hold a candle to a meta zerk phant build in dungeons.
I just would like to know if this build could be viable.
Is it viable? I guess. I mean, you can probably complete most content with it. Condition mesmer sucks in PvE though, it’s only viable because of how easy PvE is.
I don’t know much about dungeons, but I know I wouldn’t play a glamour confusion build in pvp/wvw anymore, let alone pve when almost everything else will be more effective.
Anyway, anything will work so if you enjoy it then go ahead. I am confused what purpose rending shatter is serving here for one?
Thanks for the great information. Input rending shatter for group support so a little more DMG is being put out. But I’ll take everyone’s word on mesmers ndot being good as conditions in pve. Instead is there a good staff build our there that isn’t a complete zerker build as I’m not too fond of that style. The closest is probably knights, I just prefer more survive ability then DMG cause of personal mistakes and lag issues. If there is such a build could someone point me in the right direction. Thanks.
Just go with the regular zerker phantasm build and use a staff and Knight’s gear instead, or take a couple of Cavalier trinkets. You don’t need to trait the staff for it to be useful; Warlock and Chaos Storm are good regardless.
confusion is a terrible condition in general,
There, fixed that.
Nowadays, our Confusion is more the cover-condition for the SI-bleeds. Yes it deals nice background damage, but it’s no different than a bleed in the end.
Well condition mesmer will definitly deal much less damage than the phantasm mesmer indeed. However the damage isn’t that bad with a good build that grants you 2k condi dmg, staff bounce, etc. Staff clones hit for 1-2k or even scepter 2 for over 10k. It’s not that bad tbh. I wonder if one could play a bunker mesmer in pve with clones to attack and geomancy runes aswell mantra heal spam kitten. Definitly not too bad. You still got reflection etc. Playing with 3 mantras and feedback for example.

Could someone maybe theory craft a build in that area of gameplay be it a dungeon lhantasm or condition build with staff attached to it? Another question. When making builds do you start with your traits or your stats ?
Stats are useless in general – the traits are much more worth. Unless it’s a damage trait. For example traiting into illusions 10 for +3% damage per illusion traits for 100 condition damage. However 100 Precision and 10% crit damage for you AND your phantasms outdamages this by far (just an example). But I would never go for 100 Power instead of 100 Healing power + utility.
To your staff thing. In general the staff is a specific weapon. Just use it for its utility (2 escape) and single target dps (3 iWarlock). All the other skills are pretty … meh.
Thank you. So I am able to use a staff even though condition on a mesmer isn’t really that great just use it for what it is and enjoy is what I’m getting out of this post.
You can go for power crit dmg and precision and use the staff aswell. It’s mainly a power weapon anyway.
Good to take elasticity if you want to build around the staff – makes the AA pretty decent.
