I was in a duel arena one day and some ranger who “claims” to be a mesmer pro said that when it comes to dueling the only way to go is Shatterer. Now I’m aware of the killer spike from the Shatter, no doubt but I wouldn’t go as far as to say that its the best but that’s in my opinion. I actually prefer Phantasms because it provides much more utility and pressure to stop them from spiking. So what’s the greatest builds out there specifically for dueling right now?

Well you better listen to that guy, he is a professional mesmer. Not many people get paid to play mesmers.

It depends what you are fighting, i have had great success with st/sw shatter in duels then lost vs someone else and swapped to phantasm/ condi/ pu/ lockdown and such causing me to win the next fight with them. I just stick to standered 20/20/0/0/30 shatter or 30/20/0/0/20 lockdown because i find them the most fun to play.

Shatter Mesmer is countered by so many builds I wouldn’t call it a very reliable dueling build (though I also use it for fueling because I find it fun).
Shatter shines more with an organized team to cover you with condi removal etc.

Neptune is very correct. Dueling with shatter you will run into some very hard counters, that being said it is still amazingly fun to do and always a good time (except vs minion/turret builds those are terribly boring to fight).

No its completely cool lol. So it would be safe to say that phantasms are better for dueling? And if so what build is pretty reliable? I’m kinda new to this class to be honest so i don’t know metas for it
