Hello to you, fellow mesmer! (Or potential mesmer..)

First of all, I loved/still love Guild Wars! I’ve never played it to the degree that I wanted to, but the one thing that always struck me as I ventured through the game was this:

Community! No matter which outpost I ever went to in GW, I always managed to find a kind, intelligent, helpful player to just kick back with for a while.. Exchange builds or do a mission with and just enjoy the company and diversity that their character was bringing to the game. Sure, in the later history of GW almost everyone was/is running the same type of META builds, but the quality of the person behind the characters astound me to this day..! The mindset of these persons, the effort they put into one character (GWAMM or otherwise) made me realize, that GW in some weird way had managed to collect a set of players that all worked together towards a common goal:

To achieve greatness (a sense of pride for himself) by helping fellow players out!
(I still hand out runes an whatnot to GW players based on their current build..)

Which leads me to the topic of my post here on these forums:

I’ve played on and off since the first day of Beta. (Sadly, mostly off due to personal issues and IRL engagements..) But I’ve been a frequent reader of topics throughout the different forums since I’ve started out. I have multiple accounts in GW2, but as of now my focus is on this account, since my main character here is the only character I play!

In other words, an Asuran mesmer! Ares Fyra..

After Beta, the server I was on got cancelled and I found myself on Ruins of Surmia EU. I’ve never bothered to change since I’ve mostly done solo PvE anyway.. I can tell you now, that with all my on and off breaks, I’m not even “good” at playing mesmer.. This still remains untested, but from the small amount of SPvP I’ve done, I am a complete and non-reactive noob.. Haha.. (Still running Zerger/Phantasm spec.. GS/S/S for PvE)

Sure, I can handle myself in PvE, but what mesmer couldn’t?! I haven’t even explored all areas yet.. (Currently working on map completion..) I’m from Sweden, and GW2 doesn’t seem to be as attractive as I want it to be here.. At least not on my server..! I’m hoping that the “Megaserver update” will change how I interact with other players, but as of now, I find myself alone 90% of the time.. Something I would NEVER ever experience in GW. Taking on Zhaitan alone is by my experience not a random issue!

So.. As of now I’m looking for those players that correspond to the GW player base that I previously mentioned, those that take pride in teaching others “how to play”. The one thing that has struck me on these forums, is that the Mesmer forums seems to be the most giving, in terms of aquired knowledge. That’s why I haven’t given up on the mesmer class even though we are constantly exposed to bugs that I (personally) feel should’ve been corrected a long time ago! And I mean, a LOOONG time ago..!

One other thing that will change my gameplay immensely is the “trait reset update”.. I always hated that it was exclusive to PvP! And after the 15th, I can change up my traits just as I see fit, which will be a tremendous change for all the theorycrafting nerds out there, but especially for ALL PLAYERS wishing they’d traited different..! (Good luck!)

Sorry, (drunk at the moment) but all I’m looking for is players to play with, preferably those who think they can teach me something valuable when it comes to playing a mesmer in general but also likeminded people who just enjoy a good time! I’m more inclined to do WvW in the future..! But I believe my skills need to improve first!

Sorry in advance for just rambling, but hit me up in game! I’d enjoy the company!

Ares Fyra (DIVE) / Aurora Glade (EU)

Hi I am a longtime RoS playing Mesmer and though the megaserver is coming I can also hook you up with those like us in WvW. Message Kentigem in the game. Or contact anyone in the guild advanced tactics

“Kentigem”-chief. Born cycle of Dusk. Wyld Hunt:
Learn as much mending and medical info as possible so that it can be added to the Dream.
Become the first Chief of Mending and guide the newly awaken as well as those who want to learn.

We have no way to attack enemy spell usage here, no Diversion, no Power Leak, no Shame, no Powerblock.

Looking at Shatter Enchantment too, our shatters can remove boons BUT the damage is primary and the removal secondary.

The game is very simple but faster paced when compared to GW1. Mesmers were methodical when it came to controlling the enemy in GW1. Its not the same game, though I’d LOVE the old skills back they cannot fit in to this game without breaking it utterly and requiring a start from scratch.

GW1 and GW2 are such different games the mentality must change and it has.

Just give me two utility spells:

Both with excellent power scaling.

Shatter Conditions.

Shatter Boons.

Damage scales to the amount of boons or conditions being removed.

It’d be totally overpowered without refinement but just image how great it would be.

Honestly… GW2 has too much emphasis on shatter builds for my personal taste. Though I enjoy my more celestial phantasm build, its lacks in DPS considerably compared to a zerker shatter build. It is though very adaptable for changing conditions (jumping from zerg, to solo, to zerg again). Just not as effective for either, but more a jack of all trades.
