Mesmer Los, my 2 cents
People are upset about the 60% damage nerf or bug to izerker….which truly breaks the mesmer in half
As someone who has played his Mesmer extensively, i can tell you that this change was kinda needed as it made the class pretty easymode to play, not even having to play attention at all to what your enemy is doing or what buffs he has up and if he doesnt react swift & accordingly to you while you ride them, then they will die.
Also dont understand why other mesmer players seem to think its fine to completly ignore game mechanics such as block, blind or los. all other classes have to deal with it, what would the mesmer make an exception? hell, ive even seen some threads about how phantasm cooldowns should be refunded if the attack fails. Should a warrior get his bull’s charge CD back too when its gets dodged? should a thief get his initiative back too when he heartseeker’s into distortion/block/whatever?
It gives double the evasion chance. They can avoid the cast. Or they can avoid the attack of the phantasm.
Also they did something to tracking of all phantasms.
I Assume this is a bug, though i havent seen a 60% decrease on my Izerker, it seemed definetly weaker.

I see this argument being brought up quite a fair amount, there are things you fail to take into account.
The main thing being just how buggy spawning them is right now.
In addition to all the previous bugs, there are a slew of new ones associated with LoS, and given how important they are to Phantasm builds this is a pretty serious problem.
To counter your argument however, keep in mind Phantasm attacks themselves are blockable and dodgable, not to mention they can be killed.
They were more than manageable and counterable previously, what with being able to kill them before their attacks landed.
Disregarding all the AI, pathfinding and summon bugs that already existed it was still very easy to negate illusions.
In addition, barring the iZerker, they all have pretty long cast times so its pretty easy to dodge. To easy.
This change pretty much makes Phantasm builds in spvp pointless against decent players. Which is unfortunate because the shatter builds that 90% of Mesmers are running are super strong right now and those are what needed a bit of scaling back. Instead Phantasm spawning get half broken.

Because a phantasm is not just an “attack”, it produces a low-hp group buff bot as well if you spec ANY points into inspiration. In PVE the time you need those group buffs and utilities most is when you’re being zerged by many mobs.
For every other class the attack still comes out.
If an Elementalist casts meteor storm and the opponent dodges, at least there’s still a fire field on the ground to use.
If a Thief uses steal and the opponent rolls, the Thief still ends up behind the opponent (In fact the Thief can steal regardless of any status effect on him).
If a Mesmer uses Warden and the opponent has Aegis, I hope you weren’t planning on it reflecting projectiles because now the attack won’t even appear.
In fact I can’t think of anything else that is like this. Does an Engineer’s turrets not spawn if he’s out of range? Does a Ranger not evade attacks with his third Greatsword attack if he’s blinded? Does a Mesmer not get his whirl combo finisher if he doesn’t have line of sight? Oh wait, he doesn’t because the attack doesn’t happen at all if the phantasm doesn’t come out.
No other class can have their attack “not happen” unless they are interrupted. Essentially rolling, blinding, aegis, evasion, ect… now all “interrupt” the Mesmer preventing them from even attacking with 20% of their attacks.
Any other classes ‘pets’ can not be blocked when summoned.

Incorrect. 2.25K max crit down from 5.5k average on last hit for me and many others, you can’t be the only one the bug did not effect.
