Mesmer PVP video. Mesmer Mind Games
Music is from the Dirty Heads new album.
Been getting some PM’s from people asking for build. Here it is.
No feedback?
Lots of views, no thoughts on the build?
I like it. I’m still pretty new so I’m sure my opinion isn’t worth all that much ;D
From what I’ve gathered on the forums it seems most of the “cookie cutter” builds would favor sword/focus over staff. They make the case that the chase abilities (the cripple/immobilize from sword 3 and cripple/swiftness/pull from focus 1) make it not only easier to gank but provide more group utility for your team.
While this can be true in many instances there are still plenty of staff can provide just as much support options as well as some nice damage.
From your video I’d say you certainly weren’t suffering in any way shape or form from using the staff ;D I’m curious as to your use of Chaos storm. I know lots of people have been arguing that it can be put to better use defensively (getting multiple aegis procs within the duration mitigates a lot of damage. Who knew right? ;D) Though again, based on what I saw in the video, sitting static in your Chaos Storm wasn’t viable especially when you were taking on the groups. =P
So I guess my questions to you are these: Whats YOUR logic for Staff over Sword/Focus,
and what is your role in larger scale fights? Given that everything is largely single target down to your elite, do you just try to snipe people?
One last thing props to you for solo roaming. That solo/duo roaming has always been one of my favorite things to do dating back to my days in DAoC and Warhammer Online =D Keep the videos coming!
Melee gets hurt real bad if you build glass cannon. The main reason I can make my build how I do is the fact that I am very good at keeping mobile, dodging big hit spells, and kiting.

As for the Warden from the focus, yes it is 1 of the higher DPS phantasm, but it also doesn’t move, and dies very fast. Staff phantasm crits for up to 8-9k…
Only thing i would say is your discounting the staff too much. Try switching more for full command of your cd’s. You should also be using Chaos Storm Defensively since it will grant you aegis/retaliation constantly while your in it allowing you to regain your stamina. Works great to keep clones alive as well and when combined with Iwarden is just nasty defensively and for offense since all get aegis every 1-2 seconds while its up plus combo field you get confusing bolts everywhere.
I use Staff and sword/pistol in open world pvp glad that the GS is still extremely viable as well! I also find GS-Sword/Focus to be superb in tower sieges and defense. Ibeserk and Iwarden tear it up on the ramparts.
What do you expect people to say? You bumped your thread a half dozen times, and spam your link in every other thread. All for a glass cannon build showing off how you can burst somebody down in Moa.
Grats on the kills.
Good job, but please don’t show it to players of other professions so they won’t QQ even more.
I’m (currently :P) less experienced players than you so I don’t feel qualified to comment on the play and build, but my $0.02:
1) Next time it would be better if you edited your 1st post and added information about the music and build instead of posting 3 posts in a span of an hour which looks pretty spammy and bumping that often is not necessary.
2) Weapons in your linked builds are not correct, you have one handed sword there instead of GS.
Looking forward to seeing more of videos.
Doesn’t count, Phantasms.

Hey Pest nice vid…
Just wondering about your build..
What runes are you running, armor stats for example; berserker, rampager and what sigils do you have equipped?
I’m not so sure you need to go so far into domination, then again, I don’t run this build, just saying a little in inspiration or chaos might be good for some extra survivability…
How does a build like this fair in general solo pve and spvp?
last question, I’ve ran both greatsword and staff builds – Greatsword was full berserker, staff build was full rampager?
You’d think with both builds being set for damage, with almost not stats into inspiration or chaos, that the staff would offer greater survivability what with chaos armor etc..
I’ve found the opposite to be true however, you can seriously kite the kitten out of your opponent with the greatsword
How do you feel about this?
interesting video

I updated my OP to show my stats and build. I don’t really care about the condition damage of my staff, as I use it mainly for that warlock shot in with my burst. The field/armor are just awesome bonuses for me.
I might try more a survival set up for this weekend. I’m going to make another video regardless, but if the condition damage and chaos spec isn’t working for me, I’ll go back to my bread and butter.
@kahzee Thanks i think?
