So, I was doing the Eternal Jumping puzzle today, and came across an unusual thing. I’m thinking it’s an exploit, but I’m not positive.

Basically, I was running across this mesmer from Jade Quarry who was suddenly appearing out of stealth, and using that Speed Buff/Enemy Knock Down ability. Of course, he was using it to purposefully knock me off the narrow stairs and ledges so I would fall to my death. (Good thing I had my reduced fall damage trait on)

What was strange though, is that I ended up getting all the way to the end chest, and looted it. I stood around for a while, trying to find this mesmer, but I figured he must have just disappeared. Now, about 30 seconds or so later, he suddenly appeared and used his spell to knock me off the chest platform.

So…how was he doing this? Staying in stealth for so long without me being able to see him?

That doesn’t seem likely though.

Unless he’s very quick at getting from the magic well, back up to the chest, and to all sorts of other places.

I’ve been trying to help others get up the jumping puzzle now. And basically he’ll appear for a few moments, and then vanish again and not reappear several seconds later. Not even seeing any particle effects show up.

Unless he’s very quick at getting from the magic well, back up to the chest, and to all sorts of other places.

Well. Wasn’t seeing any of those.

Also doesn’t exactly explain how he appears, casts his spells, and then vanishes away again. Should be more obvious particle effects when that happens.

One of those awesome hacks, like the ones people use to get to all the PoI’s, vistas, etc etc.

Difficult to pin down as he could have been using a combination of that magic well and the plethora of stealth skills available to the Mesmer. Traited for Prismatic Understanding you’ve got: The Prestige (4 secs), Decoy (4 secs), Veil (6 secs) and Mass Invis (6 secs). He was obviously there to troll away, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he was using portals to revisist the Magic well and then using other stealth skills.

Human mesmer with a black afro? I know exactly who you’re talking about. He’s 100% a tele-hacker. I’ve seen him around the T1 EBG puzzle a few times.

I’ve spent a lot of time in the puzzle, and am very familiar with the map’s mechanics. I also main a mesmer. He was hacking. Trolls will be trolls =/

(He just tele-hacks to a stealth well to grab invis, then teleports to a ledge ahead of you. Knocks you off, then repeats.)

That’s just one of the many problems stealth introduces in a game like this. If you’re invisible, and you can’t be made to be visible, stealth is a way to position-hack all over a map without being spotted/reported.

Just a minor correction, Veil is 2 seconds by default, 3 traited. The tooltip was wrong until recently.

You can run across Veil twice.

He could have been popping out of stealth, hitting you, then using decoy and running around a corner to line of sight-block you, then he portals/blinks/runs to the stealth well.

Mesmers helped me discover a perma Invisibility trick on my Necro. If you Press the X button at the top right corner and QUICKLY swap your focus to something else, you never come out of hiding!
