Mesmer PvE build open world/HoT
i usually just run with full zerk, gs sword/shield or sword/focus….but its open world u dont need a build u can do it with anything. If u want to run HoT zones and Bloodstone map u can just trait inspiration for a bit of sustain but that’s optional.
For metas i just use a bit of commander gear cause i like the big uptime quickness+the rest of the boons from squad.
Another thing u can do is just use the condi gear of wvw if u got a set already but its not worth crafting one just for open world.

If you’re trying to support a large group that can stack, swapping to the raid utility dps build on metabattle works well.
Other than that, I’ve personally found (my own variant, others I’m sure work well too) the wvw condi roaming build to work super well, especially anything where there’s only a few people and nasty mobs. Scepter torch staff, dire stat, illusions/chaos/chrono, you can do a lot of dps compared to damage taken. Taking decoy, mass invis, blink, and mimic (or an extra cleanse), it’s easy to skip mobs, escape, and very mobile. Since it’s very hard to die in dire gear with stealth, it’s pretty relaxed in that errors aren’t harshly punished like a glassy build (which direct damage really has to be for good dps).
If anything spec into something close in sPvP land and try it out on the dummies. Easiest and cheapest way to try-before-you-buy.
Just keep in mind it’s heavy on confusion and torment, so the DoTs don’t tick hard on a passive dummy.

Hi,
I don’t play WvW/PvP, but this build got me curious! Are there any specific rotations for it? (for open world HoT, the new map, etc)
I’ve been using this build.
When solo, all the might and quickness provided by shatter spam and dumplings feels like it goes a long way to compensate for my weak base damage, and unlike the phantasm build I was using when I first left the game, it doesn’t have the horrid ramp up time that becomes so ridiculously tedious to use on every open world enemy.
Compared to raid supports, the build is bad at supporting. But it can provide decent quickness to groups with tides of time and sustainable self-alacrity, wells, and signet of inspiration. Additionally, swapping well of calamity for well of action when you see multi-person events like world bosses only takes a second or two.
Calamity + Mind Wrack also helps with the AoE issue I had when I first played the game.

Commander Gear in open world solo … are you a masochist?
Power Solo Chrono:

(unbuffed solo DpS: ~6k, ~10k with staff and conditions)
- swap out the sword for a staff if you are in a zerg fighting a single big enemy, like the meta events.
- use a scepter for ranged single target dps or a greatsword for ranged aoe dps.
Condi Solo Chrono:

(unbuffed solo DpS: ~9k)
- torch is an option for aoe or buffing the duellists with fury.
The dps numbers seem “low” but note this is open world. If you try some dps rotas against a golem yourself, you’ll see that even the high damage professions won’t get much higher either.
Greez!
