We have a big bug as mesmers, skill number 2 when downed teleports you in a random place. Now with the new system, where you can’t resurrect during a boss (I found it a good idea), this skill it’s becoming a real problem.
1) It usually teleport you under the boss, instead of being a helpful skill, this usually involves your dead.
2) It teleports you in LAVA. YEA inside lava, so instead of saving you, not only this will kill you, but will make you impossible to resurrect, because in lava you take 4800 damage per second even while dead.

In CoF (Citadel of Flame) Path 3 last boss, I were teleported near the lava, pressed 2 to avoid taking other damages, teleported me inside the lava and I can’t do anything else. People can’t help me because my body stays in the lava after dead.

Can you please fix this skill AND the fact that the body stays in the lava even after dead?

As a guardian I have a knockback on 2 Downed. When I go down and I see that knocking enemies down will be detrimental to my party (mobs are inside of the fields etc), I don`t use it.

So, if you are feeling 2 skill would involve undesired consequences – dont use it. You have other three.

The Mesmer downed skill 2 I swear teleports you to a WORSE place, 100% of the time. If there is no worse place, it will teleport you to the SAME place. It is an evil skill and you should never use it. The only times I’ve ever had it teleport max distance is to land me in a spike trap, lava, or the nearest veteran mob available. Otherwise it will teleport you under the boss or mob so it’s positive if you’re with buddies, you’ll get cleaved to death and can’t be saved. If your alone, and greater danger does not exist other than where you are, you will not be ported greater than 5 units so your clones attack will make sure your stealth is useless as you’ll just be hit anyways.

Of course this could all just be me having crap luck 99% of the time. I would like there to be intelligence placed into the random port – or at the very least max distance away from the targeted mob (or better, ground/cursor). That still will have huge flaws, but at least it can be more useful. The preferred option would be to have what the Thief has, as I love that skill… but that would be the further homogenization of the game. I would gladly settle with the teleport 700 units away from target (900 would only be a concern as that would likely take you out of Mind Blast range).

If you use a skill that should teleport, stealth and create a copy, you expect it to works correctly.
Expecially, I were already near lava so I needed it to get out of the lava (I were in lava for something like 2 units, obviusly the skill brought me 10 units inside lava).

The other 3 won’t work in that situation obviusly.

Not to mention that in pvp you have a giant red arrow on you, while your copy doesn’t have it

As a Mesmer myself who has been screwed over by Downed #2 many times, I vehemently support the skill being changed.

That being said, the skill is not bugged and this topic should not have been created in this forum. The skill does exactly what it says it does; teleports you in a random direction. Just because we have bad luck with the skill does not mean it is bugged, it means the skill may need a rework. Thus this topic should have been started either in the Mesmer forum or in the Suggestions forum.

Also Aelaren was absolutely right: If you are near an environmental danger (lava, falling rocks, etc) and you are dumb enough to use #2 then it is 100% your fault when you port into the dangerous area.

Just because we have tools does not mean we should be using them with impunity. A skilled player knows when to use and when not use the tools available to them. If there is a chance that using #2 will teleport you into lava or some other danger, then simply don’t use it.

If you are already in a dangerous area and cannot be revived by teammates as FireDragonDol said, then being teleported further into the dangerous area really does not change your situation very much so #2 doesn’t hurt you. Also keep in mind that not every profession has the ability to change locations when downed, so it’s not like the RNG of this skill limits us in comparison.

I’ve already ranted about this skill before but I’ll add something here to those whom say we shouldn’t use it. Those 4 skills are meant to give us a fighting chance. If they put us in a worse predicament then they are broken, especially now since death in dungeons has a bigger penalty. There are no ifs, ands or buts about it.

I also feel that it takes too long to self rez. Some bosses have aoe attacks that center on you and can be used 3 or 4 times in the timeframe it would take to rally yourself. Since these aoes also pose a threat to anyone healing us, being downed is almost a guaranteed death sentence. They actually make party members choose between reviving us and risk their own death or letting us die and trying to complete the battle with one less. To take it a step further, there’s nothing for a player to do when they’re dead. They can’t even watch the fight from a teammate’s perspective. That leaves them with staring at their dead character while the camera slowly pans around it. How is that “fun”?

Yes, I had yet another incident today. If it requires targeting an enemy to use it, at least make it warp away from the enemy that’s targeted. Teleporting right under the enemy is kitten

The only time it ever really worked for me was when a thief and an ele downed me, killed my clone and ran off, leaving me to heal up behind a rock. I then got up and killed them.

And the other day in sPvP, in the Battle of Kyhlo map, I was in the clocktower and it thankfully teleported me underneath the clocktower into the corridor below.

Even then, this is a piddly skill lol.

I think downed #2 should work like Phase Retreat (staff #2). It teleports you away from the selected target, but doesn’t teleport you over a ledge or into lava.

(but sometimes it teleports you into a wall or into the ground, where you get stuck, can’t get out, can’t attack and can’t be attacked, which would be actually funny when downed ^^ )

A fix for this would be for the skill to just have a directional target similar to Whirlwind attack, but with a much shorter range (less so than the Thief 2 obviously).

So then you get to choose which direction you’ll go and your clone appears randomly. You get less range and less control than the Thief in exchange for the short Invis and clone.

All i know is every time im downed on fire shaman in fotm, i’m ALWAY ported under his carpet bombing skill the AC130 nukage.

Fact: every Thief tells you to “l2p” when the subject is to nerf stealth.

Illusion of Life: You go Invis and summon a clone
Desperate Daze: single target damage + daze (went to Rangers).
Teleport: Went to Thieves
Original Deception: Same as now, but less reliable port and no invisibility.
Current Deception: Far more reliable and only behind Thief and Ele for reliability in avoiding pvp stomps, definitely a potential hazard in dungeons though.

Keep in mind that Deception teleports you relative to your target. It still won’t avoid lava or add issues, but you’re pretty unlikely to end up under your target (though relative size and mobility are difficult to factor in.). A lot of issues people have with the skill “not moving them” in PvP is because they just spam the button and don’t select the target they want to avoid.

I almost have the target I’m avoiding selected. With #2 being random, it’s stupid to spam it without purpose… I use it just before an attack (usually ports me same place so attack hits me anyways), when I’m in a red circle (usually ports me closer to the center of the circle), or to avoid a stomp…. which is only useful against people that don’t know what a Mesmer is and try to stomp instead of just attacking me. It’s a beautiful skill to avoid a stomp… but I can count the times it saved me outside of that situation on one hand. Simply said, instead of getting me out of the immediate danger to then work on a recovery, it always puts me in MORE.

Thus #2 – good in PvP against a stomp. Bad for every other situation in the game unless you get lucky.

This is how I first thought it worked. I realized that this wasn’t the case quit soon.

Happens to me quite alot and it gets very frustrating when it does.
