Hello! My name is Vicroth, and this is my second account on guild wars 2. I’ve played Mesmer for a really long time, (really wasn’t even that hard to get legendary with the current meta either) and I was just wondering something. Why doesn’t Chaos armor stack duration on the staff? it’s kind of pointless. especially if you use the rune of radiance with it to increase the duration of auras applied. Let me give you an example. If you go on Staff, and cast a Chaos Storm, then cast Continuum split so you can double phase retreat out of the chaos storm and give yourself double Chaos Armor (staff4), you can see the duration is locked at 4 seconds every time. I think it’s kind of bugged or cheats out Mesmer because it makes the skills kind of a waste to use if you want to figure out how to use it with continuum split. Chaos armor, is an aura that applies boons that could be beneficial to a Mesmer, and I was just wondering what are everyone’s thoughts on this?

They capped duration on auras not so long ago (to 4 seconds? was it). Before that they never stacked, just reset duration.

Why don’t they stack? That’s pretty easy. Some auras give insanely powerful effects, and in fact might be considered OP. Just look at aurashare tempest right now, spamming his aoe team wide reflects and shocking auras, healing, frost -_-u, even fire. Bullkitten on top of bullkitten :D

It’s not just chaos armour, it’s all auras don’t stack duration. As for why, well I dunno, maybe someone like Pyro (Fay) who’s been here since the dawn of time can shed light on that or a Dev.

Oh yeah, I think I recall they added in an ICD per hit per attacker. 1s

So then, why exactly is it, that if I play engineer, and cast a super elixir on the elixir gun, then use a Rocket charge on hammer, I get 8 seconds of light aura? But Mesmer is locked into 4 seconds of chaos armor?

Just tested it, really works :o I guess that’s not intended :|

The usual rules that apply to everybody else don’t apply to Scrapper. Why do you think they’re so ridiculously OP in PvP right now? XD

Chaos armour needs something going for it. Since they removed the blind it’s such a pathetic aura.

Nevermind staff 4 on a ridiculously long cooldown only to provide this aura.

It’s Mesmer, so it doesn’t need to be better.

Stop asking for buffs, it’ll be on a longer cd before you know it.

That may be a specific element of Light Aura, because Light Aura is the weakest Aura.
