Hi. I’ve been reading the mesmer forums for a long time, but I though today I would like to make a little contribution to this wonderful community.

This is my build that I made from modifying and adjusting many things to my taste off Osicat’s Shatter cat build and the famous ‘Shantasm’ build.

First off, here is the build;

Weapon selection(s):

Sword main hand: #2 immune burst damage, #3 gap closer, with the sigil of Rage, I can occasionally cast #2 on quickness which is even more deadlier than the usual fire or air sigil IMO. A solid weapon choice for burst damage, which is what I rely on.

Pistol off hand: IMO, iDuelist has the best burst damage out of all phantasms, and yes even more than iBerserker. #5 is a good solid initiator, with its 2 second stun and with sigil of paralyzation , slightly longer stun.

Staff: A very good defensive weapon, #5 etheral field and #2 leap finisher with #3 iWarlock with solid damage output. I use it to wait on the cooldowns of S/P burst.

I cannot give you a video of my gameplay because my laptop is not good enough to handle fraps and gw2 at once without massive lag >_< but I’ll tell you how I burst down enemies, right after explaining armour, rune and trait choices.

Traits: 20/20/0/0/30.
Domination line———————————

Mental Torment is there for obvious reasons.
Shattered concentration is a trait that I adopted recently after giving up the Duelist’s Dicipline, after removing boons is essential for fighting certain boon stacking professions such as guardians.

Dueling line———————————————

Blade training: I just like the cooldown reduction and the bonus precision that I lack for crit proc rate.

Deceptive Evasion is unquestionable for shatter mesmers.

Illusions line————————————————-

Precise Wrack for obvious damage output increase.
Illusionary Invigoration for little waiting time between bursts.

Illusionary Persona for obvious reasons, essential for shatter mesmers.

Armour/Trinket choices:

I use the soldier stat armour with P/V/T for maxium survivability and power stacking.

Full valkyrie stat trinkets with P/V/%C for survivability with a bit of damage increase.

Rune choices: 4x rune of the fighter and 2x rune of strength for power, toughness and might duration. You get a lot of might from shattering, look at minor grandmaster trait for illusions.

How I kill:
Lay down a portal first for escape if things get tricky.
iDuelist -> Magic Bullet -> Illusionary leap -> Swap -> dodge -> Cry of Frustration -> Diversion for vulnerability and confusion.

By now your enemy begins to kill themselves.

Then you immediately press decoy, swap weapon to get full endurance.

Chaos storm on you -> iWarlock -> Phase retreat -> dodge towards enemy -> mind wrack

By this time your enemy should be dead or close to dead. If not dead, repeat your burst or kite until you can burst again.

Abusing confusion for roaming is all i’m saying. Those sword/pistol mesmers#4372587235 can’t do anything but log out or wp.
