Have anyone played the mesmer class in wvw before implementing the changes? Mesmer is next to useless in wvw zerg situation since the glamor nerf. Now even more so with blurred frenzy change, mesmer having hard time surviving. 99% of the time I summon an illusion it will die in 0.0001 secs, how exactly Anet want us to play?? You buff necros and engineers to the top and nerf mesmers to oblivion, I dont see balance here. No point even going shatter spec if you gave nothing to shatter either.

But exactly for PvE, and specifically for what you lament, the changes done did a lot of good.

Clones have a bit more health now, Phantasms have substantially more health and Signet of Illusions (though weaker) works instantly now.

If these changes were PvP-only, you’d still have illusions dying in 1 blow in PvE because their base health was terrible and signet was not working instantly.

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

Hint: in DGs mobs can easily oneshot the player. Do you think 2k hp more to illusions might make them last longer for real?

Those Dungeons are lvl40+ Fractals. Not exactly “Dungeons” as a whole. At that high levels you want the dungeon to hurt so very much, and it’s note exactly unexpected that some class mechanics can and will break down since you can hardly balance the rest of the game around high-level FotM.

Imho, in wvw phantasms n illusions shld have more hp. We dealing with mass fights n siege.. thats my point. They lump pvp and wvw together.

But clones have less health in WvW. You touch them and they pop like balloons. Which would be kitten fantastic if there was a decent condition build (or if conditions on kill added damaging conditions. Replace vunerability and weakness with burning and torment, or just only have bleeds)

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.

Yes i dun understand why clones and phantasms so unbelievably underpowered in wvw. In tpvp I understand, at most you fight 5 ppl. In wvw, the clones or phantasms seriously is like water bubble, not even a balloon.

Mesmer excels as a small scale roamer/skirmisher. You could go glamour spec or something supportive if you like rolling with zergs.

Personally I play my mesmer like a thief which is really it’s intended design imo. I roam solo or with a couple buddies and we kill people running supplies or havoc camps and occasional towers.

To be perfectly honest if zerging is what you’re most interested you kinda chose a less than ideal class for it. Same thing with thief. Thieves can zerg of course and spam shortbows but in reality thieves excel on the edges of fights and picking off runner/stragglers.

On the other hand Mesmer’s do have the best zerging utilitites hands down. Feedback, Portal, Veil, and null field are considered must haves for any good commander. Real WvW commanders rely on their mesmer more than any other class for battle field strategy. Personally though I can’t be bothered to play glamour specs much less follow zergs when I can gank solo which I find more enjoyable.

I run with the zerg, and solo a lot. I ran last night for a few hours, and I noticed very little negative differences, and quite a few positives. I didn’t log in looking for problems, I logged in and just played the way I always have. If you log in like..

“This patch stinks, everything stinks, let me log on my Mesmer and see how much he stinks”

Then really its not surprise you will be let down.

Thanks for the constructive opinions guys, I play my mesmer since beta and I have to admit too much nerfbat kinda kittens me. I do have a thief and warrior but I still like my mesmer. Lets see what good builds the rest of the fellow mesmers can come up with. I used to be a glamor mesmer but I switched to hybrid for guild wvw.

Being frustrated right now is natural, but I do think you should give it a week before coming to any conclusions.

We all get a little frustrated when change is thrust upon us, it’s only a natural response.

You cant balance illusion health around wvw zerg fights, there are plenty small group fights and roaners too, illusions would become overpowered if balanced for zergs.
