On no please do tell me how Mesmers have more surviving tools then eles who have more heals then a game with actual monks and immune to conditions when their health is above 90% or Theifs who can evade nonstop and have better access to stealth and stuns?
lets talk about warrior – 10 sec immune to dmg or condition, stability, block, huge dmg burst, cc at will , rampager…., hight hp and armor
lets talk about necro – 2 hp bar, op dmg in lich or ds, op aoe dmg on point, good condi cleanse and transfer, good cc with fear chain,
lets talk about guard – block, block, block, aegis, aegis, cleanse condition, invulnerable good armor
lets talk about mesmer – 1 blink – guard can catch you or thief, stealth like thief, portal op here, good conditions cleanse over dmg with 4 shatter you wont do much dmg. 1 block with scpeter (or oh sword) evade only projectile with dodge for 1.5 sec, distortion for emergency like shield of engi, block or guard etc..
the only op for mesmer are the clones if you dont know to target the real ones and some pu build but hardly in tpvp
Heres a hint- If you’re having trouble targeting the real mesmer then cleave the clones. A mesmer without his/her illusions is a dramatically weaker opponent… Its kinda like being assaulted by butterfly kisses.

Both have an invun (a mesmer can distort twice in a fight if it has to with shatter rechange at 50% health whereas a ranger can only get it once. Unless you give up two utility slots which would be stupid.) and both have stealth but the mesmers stealth is 10 times better. For a ranger in order to get 3 seconds of stealth you have to hit with hunters shot and if you dont your dead where as ALL of a mesmers 28 seconds of stealth are on command. Its not a projectile and it cant miss or fail. On top of all that mesmer has WAY more mobility with its teleports and it bursts harder. Its actually frustrating how much Anet gave Mesmer and then to see Mesmer plays still kittening that Mesmer arnt strong enough. My adivse to all you whining mesmers is try playing a class that is actually isent in a good spot and then see if you can still kitten.

I think the only person in this forum that needs to play another profession is you, sweetie. If you had a mesmer, you would have noticed that the “shatter recharge at 50%” trait was removed, so mesmers need to ‘waste’ a utility slot for the extra invul just like rangers. then in order to have all that ‘28 secs of stealth’ would mean having to use an offhand, 2 utility slots, our elite and the chaos trait line… which would leave no room for blink (our teleport) on our utility bar. No experienced mesmers outside of WvW would do that. I do like the idea of this mythical mesmer with 4+ utility slots though, sounds fun.

Is playing Necro mainly in sPvP, and playing Engi, Warrior and Guardian on top of Mesmer enough for you?
And I consider the Mesmer my weakest char, sorry. Sure she can really get on someone’s nerves, but she’s sooooo fragile and soooo easily disabled. Yes, the opposite of what you said. You might want to play a Mesmer, feels really meh after other chars.
So the shatter recharge traits gone and thank the anet gods for it. It also does not change the fact that your all your stealth’s are still longer, there are more of them and they are on command which means that if you make a mistake with your burst you arnt punished for it all because you can just pop your stealth, reset and try again. Say what you will but the fact is that you can be an absolute kitten player and do well playing a mesmer. (not that all mesmers are. I know some very good ones.)
@Carighan: Id imagine thats because you arnt playing zerker on any of those.

Mesmers aren’t difficult to defeat. At all. Yes we can be annoying in pure Blackwater builds, and we can be lethal in 1v1 in PU-Powershatter, but… we don’t contribute. It’s the same as zerker thieves, we gank lone people running back to the fight, but that’s it. Highwaymen. If specced for it.
Thieves can do this since the game launched. Surprisingly, the game has survived in spite of it and many do not consider it a problem that Thieves can do this. For a reason, effective as it is at making people rage on the forums (as you are so aptly demonstrating), it fails to impact the fight in a way helpful to your team/realm.
People are frustrated because it used to be that only Thieves do this. Now both stealth classes do, and people get killed. But instead of running around together, they take to the forums. The only thing which changed is the exposure, seriously.
Thieves did the exact same thing since forever, and they got away with it perfectly. Every thief ganking a lone runner is someone not taking keeps or points. Same goes for Mesmers now. Put them in an actual fight and they’re rubbish, which is why the devs generally didn’t see the problem.
And this is only considering stealth. We’re squishy as heck if not specced for PU and using full stealth, which in turn makes us not contribute to the fight. There’s a reason my Necro especially feels so much stronger in sPvP, downing people in 3-5 attacks depending on class, from range. Sure I can’t 1v1 a PU Mesmer. But make it a 2v2 and we got one target dead before they even realized a fight broke out.

Well for starters you are comparing Mesmer to one of the worst classes in the game who most everybody agrees needs extra work.
2 Mesmers don’t have that trait anymore so immediatly you are revealing you don’t know anything about the class.
If giving up 2 Utility slots for double invuln on ranger is too much then all the things you need for 28 secs of stealth def are.
Mesmers who complain they aren’t strong enough 99.9% of the time they are talking about PvE, where open world content is frustrating at best and dungeons boils down to ‘equip portal and stay out of our way’. Some people have such a huge chip on their shoulder about pvp Mesmer though that the thought of people asking they be made viable in PvE sends them into a rage though.
My most played class in PvP is Ranger btw.

Mesmer as a light armor class got so much surviving tools while doing so much damage.
Mesmer got stealth , block , evades , blink , distortion , shatter on heals and also aegis if u use staff/PU.
Its just not balanced mesmer doing so much damage while surviving very well whether u go zerker/condi.
I mean mesmer’s hp pool is not bottom tier like thieves or ele,guards, I am sick of bad mesmers think they are actually good with so much forgiving builds with mesmers.It’s just not right when i play mesmer in pvp facerolling.

Sometimes I am still in stealth, sometimes my stealth breaks after the clone / phantasm, sometimes somewhere in between. This leads me to believe this part is bugged.
If they fix it so that mesmers lose stealth the moment they attack, reliably each and every time, things would be much better, more balanced. And not sure if thieves are the same, but the same should apply to them if so.

Well, if you play mes that much, it should be easy for you to get a video of it happening. Get a video of it happening, and we’ll stop dismissing you as just another forum warrior making absurd claims.
The fact that such a thing is ridiculously easy to test and disprove leads me to believe you’re either very ignorant of not only mesmer skills but also basic game mechanics, or are flat out trolling.

Very strange. Any landed attack with physical damage part (if not missed/evaded/ distorted/etc) immediately cause reveal.
Mb you just miss/ auto cansel sc3 (by changing face direction of your character – it goes ful cd, though not hitted target even once). Torch 5 doesn’t do direct physical damage, thus don’t break your stealth. Sc 1 can progress in AA chain even without target and not very fast projectile (you can keep stealth till projectile flying to target ~0.1-0.5s).
Anyway any successfully landed physical attack (sc1, sc2-2, sc3, etc) cause reaveal. You can check it easily on golems as being said.
Maybe Tongku needs to show us a video of his full stealth combo burst.

Then as Fay said, show us a video of you doing that, and then file a bug report.
You’d be the first person to do this, but maybe there is something bugged about your specific character or so. Could be.
Otherwise, I see this:
- You made a Mesmer 5 days ago and immediately went into sPvP.
- You are making things up.
- You are using the anonymity you have here to stick to your story even now that you are being called out on it.
Happens. If you want to keep some dignity just stop replying, that’s what people usually do.
Take a glass LB Ranger and a glkittenter Mesmer
Shatter builds are srs bsns for SPvP, roaming, and small havoc fights. They’re equipped with tools to get in aggressively, burst, and get out (and you do need to get in to do your real work, usually). Similar to thieves with more ranged power but less stealth.
A glass LB ranger, for the most part, is fire support. You don’t engage targets the same way. You also don’t need to. You can deliver considerable, consistent DPS just pew-pewing at very long range.

if my AA hits or i do any direct dmg (like chaos storm) my steath breaks away

Damage? Yes in most cases. Condi only if berserker stance is taken (usually it is not). Rampage last 15 seconds (recently nerfed) it can be morphed as a counter. Rampage has cc on AA but you need to be very close. The throw is well telegraphed as is the stomp. The rest is mostly true but remember rampage is on a long CD and got nerfed already.

OP damage? That is up for debate at best. Necro lich has the same counter being morphed. The rest is true.

True but, in most builds this would be bunker. Beside burning builds only medi might do this and countering that is more about forcing the burst to miss. It is additionally well telegraphed but true none the less.

This is where it get tricky. In terms of stealth Mesmer has more that is uncounterable without a revealing skill (no looking for red rings or refuge). So no guard or thief should ever actually catch you. As for scepter it is true the shatter won’t hurt that much however, the burst shatter build will.

No this is completely wrong. Engineer and guard can not mount an offense while using those skills (including elixir s). Even while distorted and mesmer can continue to mount an offense and has evade frames on sword which still allows for offense. This is a major difference. Nothing new but still incorrect.

In terms of OP I think the damage is a little high but it is a little high across the board. CS makes lading burst especially while coming out of stealth to easy. Given the damage increase and stealth it is much like the old mug thief. PU gives a lot of stealth(it really isn’t more complex than that).If you saw those nerfed you would likely see many of the complaints go away (who knows where that will leave mesmer though?).
People will complain but realize if there is a fotm then lots of people are running the same build that is hard to deal with. It becomes a pain for the community. Lets be clear though mesmer is just sitting in the seat many builds have in the past. Eventually it will be nerfed or other classes will be brought up (power creep).
While there are 2-3 builds that deal with mesmer’s fotm build well remember that is very limiting for a diverse community. You end up with a situation where you have to use a build to counter one class (and that is only if your class even has one). this knocks some classes not only out of the meta but out of use.
Do not blame the people that complain. You can blame Anet (for bad balance), fotm followers (who only care about winning and nothing more), and not calling it as it is by some long time dedicated players of a specific class.
Low risk high reward is just bad over all in pvp.

warrior – every meta build take berserker stance and rampage which is used in melee so if every thing else is correct what you want to clear up .oh it can be morph like every other class and build
i just mention warrior has good sustain while in melee. sometime better than mesmer cause of high armor and hp. thus warrior

guard – most take medi or bunker so again true hard to kill while can dish out huge dmg burst. guard can use focus block or aegis and attack

engi – yes he cant attack while using block or ex-s but he got stealth also, slik shoes ,kd ,cc etc. probably the best heal in the game while the ability to disengage and reengage at will with good amount of cc …
so all in all you agree. every class has its ability to survive better and do dmg probably while being contesting while mesmer (power) cant . and your only problem is pu duration and moa ….

It was pretty solidly inferior to Mantra Shatter in SPvP before the patch made Mantra of Recovery (not even MoD: Mantra of Recovery) clunky to use.
Also anyone taking PU just for the boons really needs to try Chaotic Interruption instead.

i dont know why you using 6/6/6/6/6 build i use 0/0/0/0/0 and i rekt ppl all over with no weapons and only with heal skill as it reflect
On no please do tell me how Mesmers have more surviving tools then eles who have more heals then a game with actual monks and immune to conditions when their health is above 90% or Theifs who can evade nonstop and have better access to stealth and stuns?

Oh, i’d love for them to nerf PU, because i found CI much more enjoyable to play, but in turn they need to at least revert the Mirror Blade change and buff Chaotic Dampening.

Going to clear up a few thing because post like this are as bad as OP.

warrior – every meta build take berserker stance and rampage which is used in melee so if every thing else is correct what you want to clear up .oh it can be morph like every other class and build
i just mention warrior has good sustain while in melee. sometime better than mesmer cause of high armor and hp. thus warriornecro – the rest is true so…. again what you wanna clear here?
guard – most take medi or bunker so again true hard to kill while can dish out huge dmg burst. guard can use focus block or aegis and attack
mesmer – again the problem is pu . yes its being used now in pvp but not for its full duration rather it aegis and other boons it gives .so even if anet nerf the duration (which imo needed) ppl will still use it
engi – yes he cant attack while using block or ex-s but he got stealth also, slik shoes ,kd ,cc etc. probably the best heal in the game while the ability to disengage and reengage at will with good amount of cc …
so all in all you agree. every class has its ability to survive better and do dmg probably while being contesting while mesmer (power) cant . and your only problem is pu duration and moa ….

The problem is that when someone criticizes your class the immediate option is to point out what other classes have and not put it into perspective. This is a silly trend. It does not state what class x can do to beat the class being criticized and just like your engineer list above states every skill that the class has but not a logical build that uses all of them. Why? Because they are not used simultaneously.
It is a comment with little to no perspective. “You have this I have this so everything is balanced!”, is how it ends up sounding. Yes engineer has lots of skills that will let it survive against current mesmer. How does it win? How does any class actually win/compete consistently? No clue right? However, a handful of builds can (celestial necro, DD ele,) the others can not consistently. It really is that simple.
One last thing as a dedicated engineer. We CAN NOT disengage and engage at will like a mesmer or thief. Our attempt at that actually requires some planning. We do not have the level of movement skills to make it feasible and our stealth (at a mere 6 seconds with 32 1/2 second cd) being that short we have to plan. Even to extend it to 12 seconds requires actually skilled play.
As for warrior and meta. They have no build options right now. It is Rampage and hope you have players who do not know how to kite your invuls and burn you down once they are over.
You may not like what I say but diverting attention with what we can call a tried a true method is pointless too. If things go like they have for each class that has sat in this spot over the past nearly 3 years mesmers get nerfed back to perceived uselessness. For how long? Until “OP!” again. The best option would be to not have this happen at all. You have long time players who have played this class even when it was considered sub par. Stop deflecting accept your’e viewed as OP and try and get Anet to not do the same old thing.
