Mesmer in the stronghold Dev livestream
Do we actually know of a Dev who main’s a mesmer?
Anet if there is such a person we request you have them play in the stronghold developer battle royal and not kittenter as most esl players go shatter and everyone playing the same spec iron boring.
If you wanna hate on all the ESL players playing shatter. Blame ANET. It’s their fault they haven’t properly adjusted anything else on mesmer to make it remotely viable aside from shatter.
Well actually since I made this post I had a better idea.
I think it would be cool if that in the battle royal all the deve played the new specialisation of each class.
I know it’s a long shot but would totally get me watching the stream just to see them all going at it with shiny new skills.
Most people playing with the meta build because they want to win. A lot of mesmer skills and builds are so fun to play. However, when it comes to a play-to-win situation, such as ESL or WTS, mesmer will never be the first choice in any situation.
As mesmers appear in those higher skilled matches, everyone of them are using the shatter build. This shows mesmers only have one viable build(for those who want to argue about this, prove your statement in the tournaments). This is why the mesmer pvp community is running the shatter spec a lot.
There are some builds that are fun to play but ineffective. However, you will not see those builds often in ESL because the players want to win. With that said, ignore all tournaments and just play the builds you are having fun with.
On the other hand, you do not have to main a profession to play that profession in the stream. By looking at how the developers balance the game, I assume they are terrible players and have little to no understanding of how pvp works. I, personally, will not looking forward to it.

No balance devs main mesmer. I’m sure somebody that works at anet (does that count as a dev?) mains mesmer, but nobody important does.
Actually, Jon Peters is in charge of us, as well as Rangers. But the only class he competently balances is the warrior (his actual main).
Still waiting on those changes to Cry of Frustration he promised shortly prior to release.

Jessica Boettiger does… I think. I’ve never seen her on anything other than her mesmer (Wubbuffet), anyway.

This is true, Jessica mains mesmer. She’s also not really someone in charge of balance at all.
1st off.. Anet Hate mesmer, learn, and acept, Mesmer had 3 viable builds that was great
1)Primal shattere- (i remember when you could 100>0 tank Guardian) it was toned down still great
2)Condition Confusion- it was a bit op, bcos ppl afk 111111 with 15stack and QQ about op.. then Anet give Confussion to others… and nerfbat this to ground
3)Shutdown- was one of best thing Anet give mesmer… and nerfed in like 1 week bcos ppl QQ
But yea Engi turret take no skill, afk run,are op like for some months now, nothing changes, same go for Conditions other than confussion.

I see her on her mes afk in HoM fairly often, but AFAIK she’s in the QA/QC and testing for the competitive parts of the game.
With stronghold I predict that portal will be nerf down to hell or that mesmer will remain subpar as today. Both is also an option however.
