Mesmer or Necro?
Having roam with both I’d say mesmer is definitely a better choice in solo roaming. Simply because necro has very little ability to disengage from battle. Once you get locked into battle you’re pretty much in a death match setting (unless a friendly tower is around). Spectral walk/recall and flesh wurm are pretty much the only kiting skills but their CD aren’t very friendly. Mesmer has utilities and stealths to draw some distance. With the right orientation and tricks you can escape better, despite unable to tank damage like necros.
Spectroll wall is awesome in EotM, but you probably will spend more time trying to get around the zerg than getting a decent roaming fight. And again if you are fighting a better roamer then you’ll have hard time escaping him. On the other hand, there is a lot of place for mesmer to hide in EotM. Plus with a bunch of uplevels in enemy zerg, a single burst of shatter combo from stealth can make a lot more difference in the backline (where uplevels tend to stay away from damage) than in normal WvW maps.
Yep. Fully agree with NICENIKESHOE. I main Mesmer and second Necromancer. While Necro can be strong in WvW roaming, you are not that mobile and can not escape dangerous situations. Mesmer just is more flexible and adaptable both in the very situation and in build variety.
