Mesmer pve?
People who say we’re bad at pve have no clue what they are talking about. I wouldn’t say we are the strongest and we have our weaknesses, but we are anything but bad.
P.S. Try to spend a little bit of effort when writing, word salad is hard to read.

yea yea i kno i dnt get on these forums much only to ask a simple question so u wont see me alot.
Mesmers do have to work a little harder for some content, especially tagging in Orr DEs and map completion (poor speed buffs), but other than that they are actually pretty strong.
Still, Orr DEs are efficient for farming, so unless you want to be creative there and run a pigeonhole build, you’re better off finding other content to grind. Apart from that I don’t have any complaints here. It’s a blast, especially when other classes see you solo a champ and 2 vets then ask WTF?

yea thats the only thing i really dont get is why only 1 good swiftness skill lol.. while other classes event thiefs have thier signet that gives 25% movement speed at all times..
well if you just wanna go and farm in orr, better roll warrior… but for everything else we are good
Mesmers have absolutely no problem getting full credit for any event. It’s getting loot that’s the problem. Tagging multiple mobs is too difficult to do when mobs die under 4 seconds in the most lucrative farming area in the endgame – orr.
It’s a waste of time to get a mesmer purely for farming orr. Even if you can find a way to get some loot, it will never be as efficient as other classes. My engineer for example can get four times the loot in half the time my mesmer does. I honestly can’t think of any possible build or playstyle that would enable my mesmer to outperform that, ever. Mesmers just aren’t efficient enough at AoE tagging and there are far too many players to compete with in orr.
Farming karma, no problem. Farming gold, try something else.
Also like everyone said for anything else we’re good.
GS/Staff Mesmer is one of the strongest dungeon classes and a real gem to have in any dungeon team. Personally I would rank mesmer right after guardian for dungeons. The damage to team buffing ratio is second to none.
I can see issues with Orr DE farming, though I have not tried that as our AOE is not great, but I have had no issues in PvE or WvW. Fun, effective and most importantly and interesting class. I recently switched to GS+Staff build and while not as “optimized”, I find it more fun and more versitile. GS + Sword/Focus is also really effective esp. when AOE is needed and vs softer targets.

Yeah, large aoe for tagging is probably the weakest point for mesmer PVE. But that is completely mitigated by a simple thing: being in a party.
If you’re in a party it’s usually enough to do 1 point of damage to a mob to tag him. Just run and autoatack with the sword once or twice and let you teammates do the rest. I know it’s sounds a bit selfish, but it’s not, if every member of a 5 man party gets at least one attack on a mob, it’s enough for all to get credit for the kill.
hmmm okay its just i rather play mesmer for everything tbh warrior is ridiculously boring imo i couldnt even bring myself to lvl it after 40…. mesmer in that term is much more fun.
As for guardian i liked it. but the one thing that class is sorely lacking on are gap closers. sad how classes just run away so easily and if ur current gap closers are on cooldown ur basically kitten done..
Let’s be clear. Mesmer’s arn’t bad at PvE and mesmer can tag
The difference is that mesmer’s have to work their kitten off and have to be specced a certain way to even come close to achieving what a guardian, engineer or elementalist can achieve merely by rolling their face on the keyboard.
If those classes bother to work their kitten off, then there’s a good chance you won’t be tagging anything this run.
So, by this definition yes, mesmer’s are bad at DE’s

Hi all,
Can I get some clarification on the meaning of tag and full credit?
I sometimes do dynamic events in Orr and I have no issues of doing my share of dps.
if the target is single elite/champ that sure big dps for me.
if tons of small fry-mobs, just do not target any and spam GW spatial surge , mirror blade and iBreserker ( when available and see lots of mobs in the area.
if credit means “Gold” rating rather than silver or bronze then I rarely get other than gold.
My build is mantara with trait 30,30,0,0,10 and full CoF Precision+crit geasr upgraded jewel “breserker, pow prec and crit” and +5% sigil.
If missunderstood the debate or “I am thiunking I getting doing great” then please enlighten me
wat they mean is tag mostly all the mobs to get drops basically farming in a sense in the events and from wat ive seen and hear mesmers are apparently verry bad. but meh ima still try cuz other classes to me seem verry boring..
Really Mesmers are more a 1v1 class, meaning we excel in events that pertain to a single enemy or boss. On the flip side in large groups, where there is little time to make clones, our role is best suited for support; striping/adding boons and conditions.
In terms of PvE and farming… we don’t suck, its just more difficult given the Mesmers unique style of combat. I think over all its down to the weapons you use and how you manage them with weapon swapping and cool-downs.
