I have some questions regarding a Mesmer race.

The Charr can run on 4 legs.
The Sylvari can glow in certain lack of light conditions.

Charr:
Will your clones run on 4 legs too, or not?
Meaning it becomes obvious that you are the real one if you are the only one who does that right? Or does the 4 leg run only happen outside of combat?

Sylvari:
Will your clones glow too? If they dont, than it becomes obvious that you are the real one right?

Tricks:

A big part of Mesmer in pvp is behaving in a way that it isnt clear that you are the real one, so therefore these questions.

Maybe the animations of the Asura are most difficult to track because they are so small, making it more difficult to see who is the real Mesmer?

First things first: Always assume that the opponent knows who is the real mesmer. Good players will and so there’s no point to cripple yourself by behaving like a clone.

Charrs only run on 4 legs out of combat.

This so much, any half decent player will be able to without a second or 2 to determine who the real mesmer is, no matter how well you act like a clone, good players will find out in 0,01sec or something like that

You’re right, charrs run on all four only when they’re outside of combat and their weapons are stowed.

Sylvari:

I don’t have a sylvari to check it on, but I see no reason that they wouldn’t glow as well. You can check it very easily yourself , no need for a forum post about it, to be completely honest with you.

This part of your post is a bit misguided. In a decent level of pvp, no one is confused by clones. And you sure as heck don’t try to act like one. While it may sound fun, it isn’t really a viable way to act during a fight.

That being said, asuras while being the smallest, have very exaggerated animations. Try to move sideways a bit and stop, like we do many times during fights, and you’ll see what I mean.

Other than that I don’t believe that there’re other concerns regarding race which’re specific to mesmer. The bigger you’re the more obvious your attacks become and etc.

Just to reinforce few things that had been mentioned.

As mentioned charr only walk on 4 legs if OOC. Even if your clone survive when your opponent flee (possible), they’ll assume battle stance when the next opponent comes. So I’ve yet to see charr clones run in 4 legs.

I can tell you as a sylvari mesmer that sylvari clones glow at night.

There’s a pvp option that change all races to human, so for those who can’t exactly tell asura animations they might click on these.

Thanks all.

Good to know that there is that ‘’all races to human’’ option NICENIKESHOE.

@Ithamir.

I misunderstood. I was under the impression that Sylvari only had a glow in dark spots on the world (like in shadows), so I thought that will be difficult to test out in the heart of the mist starting zone with clones. However, Sylvari glow at night.

Ah, I see why you were unsure about the glow now.

To make it a bit clearer, Standard Enemy Models which makes the enemy team players all humans, only works in Ranked Arena (Compete). It won’t work anywhere else in the game.
