Hi,
I’m a ranger, and i was curious if mesmer shatter can kill someone while they are invulnerable.
I was fighting a mesmer, and had 7k health. I popped my invulnerability, but i still watched my health drop fast, like 1.5k bursts, just like a shatter would damage me.
Also, i was watching out for conditions, i didn’t have confusion, nor did i have any conditions on me.

Yet it was still going down.

Also, in this same night, i saw an engineer, use stealth ( without being stunned ) and unload, use quickening zephyr, use that guardian wall that reflects projectiles, and use that elixir that makes them invulnerable. I fought a Thiefguarangineer.

That was a weird night.

This is more than likely a server timeing issue. IE they cast the spell before you hit invul. Same thing happens to my eng and mesmer all time I’ll be invul and still crap hits.

My guess would have been conditions/confusion damage because they are DoTs. I realize you said you looked, but aside from server lag, that is the only way I see it happening. Because as far as I have noticed, if our target dodges, evades, blocks, or goes invulnerable, I have not seen the secondary/traited conditions still being applied.

Na I’ve been dying all over the place when I’m invulnerable. Whether it has been distortion or blur or in mist form (was testing Vampirism runes) it doesn’t matter. If you have conditions on you already they still apply their effects. That includes confusion, so don’t think for a second you can pop some sort of invuln and dps somebody else down without consequences.

I have never tested this with Retal to see if boons bypass invuln. Dodge rolls still take damage from condi’s that have already been applied.

Engineers have access to all that stuff. Stealth is in Toss Elixir S, quickening zephyr in Elixir U, and the guardian wall is in Toss Elixir U. Unload… might be the Charr racial toolbelt skill or poison volley.

They are however, random and unreliable.

Well for starters you probably had a condition on you, seeing as how it was a Mesmer it was likely confusion. Conditions will still hurt you through invuln (not “Protect Me!”) so that’s likely how you got rocked.

As for the eng, he used Elixir U thrown, and Elixir S drink+ Elixir S throw (stealth)

well there is a trait that causes invulnerability to reflect projectiles. But since you were invulnerable I have no idea. It might go through it but I doubt it

I had no conditions on me. I’m sure, i double checked once i started losing health.
Now that i think of it, maybe he had retaliation? I think retaliation goes thorugh invul.

Ah that might be it, I can’t confirm, nor disprove that retaliation hits through invuln though, but seeing as how confusion does it likely does as well.
