Mesmer skills when downed
Eh, usually we get whined at because out 2-skill is so strong. So I’d be quiet.
The number 2 skill is a 100% guaranteed stomp-stopper. It is without a doubt the second strongest 2 downed skill in the game, full stop.
You must pray to the deception gods harder! Ive always had a love/hate with it, I try to pay attention to who I’m targeting before I use it. Silverwaste seems to be the worst, usually just prolongs my death however super effective in pvp.
It sucks so much how after we use the downstate 2 skill we have a HUGE red arrow on our heads. If that wasn’t their it would be the best down skill EVER!
2 saves my kitten in PvP but is assured defeat in PvE.
I just wish the mobs would get tricked by that clone like people do..
Mesmer down skills mimic their actual up skills. We have the spread of capabilities like the other classes, but are the masters of none.
I just wish #1 coul deal more damage. I some time feel I am tickling the enemy with it whereas some professions can really hurt. Does anyone know how the downed skills scale with power?

People seem to think that the downed skills should hit hard, or have oomph, or idk…be in general useful? Being downed is not a good thing. You are being punished when you get downed. You’re on your last chance. The purpose of the downed skills is as follows:
- Do barely enough damage to finish off something that was low and you had almost killed
- Avoid a stomp in PvP
- An unspecified but fairly strong effect, since you should usually not get to cast this
That’s all. 1 isn’t supposed to deal damage. 2 isn’t supposed to instantly save you. 3 isn’t supposed to instakill everything nearby. The skills are simply designed to just barely give you a fighting chance.

What you say is fine by me. However, what I see is that thieves (some of them) can drop you down to downed state from half HP by using their #1. When a 1v1 fight finishes in both parts downed, you know already how it will end up depending on which profession you are facing: necro and you are dead, warriors will stand back up and finish you off, hunters will have their pet to rescue them.
Tbh I do not really care and I am far from complaining. But I find frustrating being teleported in a middle of an aoe when the skill is supposed to help. On the other hand I sometimes got teleported on a safe spot, even on a different level where I could heal up, but that happened very seldom. All in all a bit of fairness would be welcome
What you say is fine by me. However, what I see is that thieves (some of them) can drop you down to downed state from half HP by using their #1.

Tbh I do not really care and I am far from complaining. But I find frustrating being teleported in a middle of an aoe when the skill is supposed to help. On the other hand I sometimes got teleported on a safe spot, even on a different level where I could heal up, but that happened very seldom. All in all a bit of fairness would be welcome
Agreed, in my experience, all the 2nd skill is is nothing more than a minor delay in getting stomped. And pretty much every player knows it. #3 skill takes forever to come off cooldown and the phantasm really doesn’t hit all that hard(or often). The distance of the 2nd skill should be increased.

What on earth are you talking about. There’s so much wrong packed into this small paragraph it blows me away.
“A minor delay in getting stomped”?! What exactly are you looking for? “Teleports the player 1500m away from any hostile targets and drops a nuke at the original location?” The 2 skill will stop a theoretically unlimited number of stomps from hitting you. That’s better than every single other skill in the game other than vapor form. Let’s look at that, shall we?
Guard: Stops up to 5, blocked by teleport stomp, blind stomp, stab stomp, invuln stomp
Thief: Stops unlimited, blocked by teleport stomp
Ranger: Stops up to 5, blocked by teleport stomp, blind stomp, stab stomp, invuln stomp
Engineer: Stops a maximum of 1, blocked by teleport stomp, blind stomp, stab stomp, invuln stomp, body blocking, projectile destroys, projectile reflects
Warrior: Stops a maximum of 1, blocked by teleport stomp, blind stomp, stab stomp, invuln stomp, body blocking, projectile destroys, projectile reflects
Necromancer: Stops a maximum of 1, blocked by teleport stomp, blind stomp, stab stomp, invuln stomp

Mesmer downed skills are incredible. People just don’t understand that being downed isn’t supposed to give you some awesome skills, it’s supposed to just barely let you cling to life with a bit of luck and a bit of skill.

Literally everything you just said, but adding a bit more. I am pretty sure that iRouge has the highest DPS out of all of our phantasms. That thing alone has saved me sooo many times in PvP that it isn’t funny. iRouge is able to down a lot of people from 25% health and its usually what wins you fights against other downed players.
That last part is the most important part. iRouge hits so hard that Mesmers are usually guaranteed to win in double-downed situations. Wars can still win if they vengeance and your #2 is on cooldown and Rangers can still win if you can’t interrupt/kill their pet before they rez the Ranger.
People should really walk in other classes shoes before saying our downed skills are bad.

As already said, I am not.
But the OP pointed at one thing that I am sure everyone experienced: using #2 hoping for a rally or a hand from an ally, and instead you get teleported in a middle of a aoe.
I did mention about #2 randomness, and sometimes it teleports you on a safe spot. But as you know, bad things weight more than the good ones and so ppl complain about it.

I dunno, it must be something to do with the base attack coefficient because (some) thieves do hurt even in downed state. Is there a trait that improve downed state damage perhaps? Because I recall some fights where the thief was able to down me from downed. Eventually he died since I managed to deal damage while he was downed and so my #2 and #3 saved me (lol). But again, some thieves seems to have #1 boosted
Trail of Knives bounces, so it might hit you, a clone, you… That´s why a downed thief still deals a lot of damage to mesmers (most are full berserker as well).
